Princess Cruises’ newest ship the Sky Princess which debuts next month successfully completes her six-day sea trial from the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy.

The 3,660-guest ship was put through a series of manoeuvres to test the propulsion, steering and navigational equipment.

She is now back in the shipyard for further exterior and interior finishing to prepare for her maiden sailing departing October 20. The Sky Princess’ inaugural sailing explores the Mediterranean and Adriatic on a seven-day cruise from Athens to Barcelona.

Sky Princess is a sister ship to Regal, Royal and Majestic Princess but she will be the first ship built for MedallionClass and she also debuts the line’s new Sky Suites, which has the largest balconies at sea.

The ship will also introduce three new entertainment experiences, an immersive escape room called the Phantom Bridge, the only jazz theatre at sea, Take 5, as well as a new musical inspired by avant garde fashion and classic rock, ‘Rock Opera’.

The ship will sail a series of Mediterranean voyages before debuting in North America on 1 December 2019 for sailing a season of Caribbean cruises from Ft. Lauderdale.

The Princess Cruises fleet continues to expand with Enchanted Princess in June 2020, and three additional ships arriving in 2021, 2023 and 2025.
