Your holiday starts at Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region renowned for its quirky art scene and architecture. Surrounded by fabulous landmarks designed by Antoni Gaudi, you will get a taste for his unconventional style of architecture from the awesome La Sagrada Familia, the unfinished Roman Catholic basilica with its ornate spires to Park Guell, a garden complex built between 1900 and 1914 that houses a series of dynamically designed buildings including Gaudi’s house.

Spend your second day exploring Barcelona’s cobblestone alleyways in the historic Gothic Quarter with its eclectic bars and restaurants. Make sure you indulge in some traditional tapas of Pulpo a la Gallegawith octopus with potatoes, slices of aged, delicious Jamon Iberico and La Boomba washed down with chilled Spanish sparkling cava before heading to Picasso Museum.

When you board Queen Elizabeth, you will struck by the elegance of the ship, its wide open spaces and convivial lounges, perfect for a G&T. At Salalah in Oman, you will spot beautiful beaches, traditional Islamic architecture and mountains covered in frankincense trees. You can also visit the Tomb of Job in the hills overlooking the city.

Tea plantations in Colombo

You will then cruise to Sri Lanka and stop at Colombo where you can watch children play cricket, take in the faded charm of old colonial buildings or escape to the lush tea plantations in the hills.

After another day at sea where you can share a beer with new-found friends at the Golden Lion pub and dance away the night in the Yacht Club, you will arrive in Singapore, where cutting edge skyscrapers sit next to sacred temples. When evening falls, make a trip to Gardens by the Bay where you will marvel at the towering Supertrees, 50 metres tall and watch Garden Rhapsody, a spectacular light and sound display. Make a beeline to Chinatown and sit at a hawker stall serving Singaporean favourite food such as chicken rice and fried kway teow (noodles).

Singapore

Your next port of call is Jakarta, one of Asia’s liveliest and over-crowded cities. For a bit of culture, watch traditional puppetry at Wayang Museum as you pound the streets looking for some of the best bargains in the city’s many shopping plazas. Jakarta is a shopping paradise – just make you bargain at street market stalls.

In sharp contrast, Bali is a haven of natural wonders such as brooding volcanoes, waterfalls and amazing terraced rice fields grown on hillsides. Steeped in Hinduism, make sure you visit the Shaivite Shive Temple on Lake Bratan which is surrounded by majestic mountains.
