Your holiday kicks off when you arrive in Rome where you will spend two nights exploring the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. Take some time to stroll along Rome’s cobbled streets to savour the food, culture and ambience of this Eternal City and indulge in some retail therapy.

When you embark the Norwegian Getaway, give yourself sometime to acquaint yourself to its many attractions including its many restaurants serving European, Asian and American fare. Make sure you attend the award-winning musical, Legally Blonde and high-energy dance extravagannza Burn the Floor. Laze by the swimming pool while the kids take to the rope walks, fastest water slides at sea and the zip line.

Your first port of call is Livorno, gateway to Pisa and Florence, cradle of the Renaissance. Visit the Uffizi Gallery to admire the collection of Renaissance masterpieces and the famous leaning tower of Pisa which took more than 177 years to build.

When the ship calls at Cannes, walk down the famous palm-lined Boulevard de la Croisette’s divine beaches, then take time to wander into the old quarter of Le Suqet where cobbled streets are lined with charming restaurants and medieval churches.

Lisbon, Portugal

At Lisbon in Portugal, the stately city is known for its wide plazas, Neoclassical buildings and the longest suspension bridge in Europe stretching more than 12,000 metres from the city to Almada on the banks of the Tagus River.

The Norwegian Getaway will then call at Ponta Delgada on the island of Sao Miguel, home to several spectacular volcanic lakes and dramatic landscapes. Other landmarks include charming fishing villages and the Gorreana Tea Plantation. Make sure you have a meal at one of its excellent seafood restaurants.

Your next port of call is Bermuda where the ship will dock at the Royal Naval Dockyard and you can explore the Bermuda National Museum and wander round the lively artisan neighbourhood, home to many artists.

The statue of Liberty and Manhattan, New York City

You have a day at sea before arriving in New York where you will disembark and spend two nights soaking up the city’s pop culture and ambience, visiting the Statue of Liberty, the neon lights of Broadway, Central Park’s walkways, Fifth Avenue museum mile and ritzy shops. Make sure you also explore the Empire State Building, Times Square and have a taste of a cream cheese bagel in Central Park.
