You can spend sometime admiring Gaudi’s unfinished and iconic Sagrada Famillia Cathedral with its distinctive ornate spires; visit the excellent Picasso Museum and taste Catalan cuisine including tapas in the colourful Gothic Quarter.

The next day you will board the regal Queen Elizabeth for a truly epic, 28-night cruise, sailing all the way to Fremantle in Western Australia.

Known for its spacious decks, art deco elegance and timeless style, you will cherish its contemporary comfort, amazing entertainment and wide array of dining and wining venues the ship is known for. Take in a West End performance at the extravagant, Royal Court Theatre  or dance away the night at the largest ballroom at sea.

Your first port of call is the gorgeous Greek Island of Crete, a lively city, flanked by a 16th century Koules fortress, Turkish fountains and Venetian architecture.

Spend you day at sea with a game of croquet on the games deck, watch the stars in the largest planetarium at sea or go for a pilates or yoga class.

The Suez Canal Bridge

The next day you will take the spectacular cruise through the historic Suez Canal, connecting the Mediterranean with the Red Sea. During your 193-kilometre sail in the man-made waterway, you will spot the world’s largest swing bridge that spans the canal – the El Ferdan Railway Bridge.

At Safaga, a tiny port town on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, Safaga is renowned for its picturesque black sandy beaches with turquoise waters and pristine reefs. Great for snorkellers, scuba-divers, windsurfers and kitesurfers. If there’s time, venture out to ancient Luxor, home to the incredible Valley of the Kings archaeological treasures.

Queen Elizabeth will then sail to  the southern coast of Oman where you will alight at the charming city of Salalah where luscious fruit such as figs and bananas flourish. The port is surrounded by mountains covered in frankincense trees

You will then spend three days at sea where you can enjoy Cunard’s refined service from afternoon tea served by white-gloved waiters at the Queens Room – beside Early Grey tea, you can always add a glass of chilled champagne to go with your warm scones. There’s always the Gala Evenings where you are invited to dress in your finest evening wear for a spectacular evening of music and celebration.

Golden Buddhas in Colombo

Your next stop is Colombo, the colourful capital city of Sri Lanka where you can stroll down the high streets and find colonial architecture built by the Portuguese and British. Souvenir hunters should visit the vibrant Pettah Bazaar, the biggest market in Colombo where you can buy just about anything.

You will then enjoy four days at sea where you can dine at the Queens Grill, have a casual meal at the Lido on the open deck or enjoy prime cuts of US beef or the best seafood at The Verandah. You could also pamper yourself with a soothing massage or beauty treatment at the ship’s Aqua Therapy Centre.

Your next stop is Singapore, a city of sharp contrasts where skyscrapers and gleaming office buildings sit next to ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples. Make sure you savour Singapore chill crabs and chicken rice in bustling Chinatown.

You will then cruise to the exotic island of Java and immerse yourself in Indonesian traditional shadow puppets and admire the striking Dutch colonial-era buildings in the Old Town, known locally as Kota Tua.

Bali – Indonesia. Aerial view of traditional boats anchored on the Gili Rengit beach in Lombok

Next up is the beautiful Bali blessed with terraced rice fields, soaring mystical volcanoes and home to ancient Balinese Hinduism. Head to Ubud, the island’s artistic heart to experience a more traditional way of life.
