Your holiday adventure starts in sprightly Hong Kong, a city bursting with energy where you can live life to the full with an unbelievable array of eating, drinking and shopping treasures with 9000 restaurants and bars to choose from.
Hong Kong’s harbourfront is the lifeline of the city with a constant parade of ships set against a stunning city backdrop.
Here you will transfer to the port to board the gleaming Silver Muse for your 14-night, luxurious cruise to Singapore. Catering for only 596 guests, Silver Muse offers a small-ship intimacy with spacious all-suite accommodation and your own white-gloved butler service. With eight restaurants to dine in, bars to sip a cocktail before sunset, you can also take in spectacular evening shows at the L’Opera theatre. Life onboard is so effortlessly classy and comfortable.
You can tuck into the Japanese Kaiseki for sushi and sashimi, taste Asian fusion cuisine at Indochine or head to the Italian Le Terrazza.
Your first port of call is Ha Long Bay, surrounded by limestone hills and tiny islets – a spectacular, UNESCO-heritage landmark. If time permits take a traditional junk boat to discover floating fishing villages.
Silver Muse will then call at Chan May where you can explore the cities of Hue, home to the Imperial City, a 19th-century citadel that was once the capital of Vietnam and Hoi An, a charming coastal town with an interesting mix of Chinese temples and colourful French colonial buildings.
Make sure you relax at the ship’s Zagara Beauty Spa and treat yourself to an invigorating massage, facial therapy or simply enjoy a session at an outdoor whirlpool.
Next you will visit Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon which had a turbulent past during the Vietnam War. Today, the modern metropolis has many attractions from its French colonial landmarks such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon to the gripping Cu Chi tunnels, a labyrinth of underground passages which were crucial to the success of the Viet Cong during the war.
The ship will then overnight in Laem Chabang port, gateway to Bangkok, a lively city with impressive temples housing gilded Buddhas, floating markets with tiny boats piled high with fresh fruit and vegetables and there’s always a chance to savour sizzling Thai dishes.
After two days at sea, Silver Muse will arrive at Singapore where you will disembark and fly to New Delhi to begin your epic Golden Triangle adventure tour.
You will never be bored in New Delhi from its colourful chaos on the roads, amazing costume jewellery worn by sari-clad women carrying cauldrons of water on their heads to sampling Mughlai cuisine such as Chaat and butter chicken.
In Old Delhi, you can explore the largest mosque in India, the Jama Masjid Mosque which can accommodate 25,000 worshippers in its courtyard.
Following your train journey from Delhi to Kalka, you will then board the Shimla Toy Train to ride the UNESCO World Heritage railway track which will whizz you past the majestic Himalayas through 103 tunnels and over 700 Gothic bridges. You will spend three nights exploring the Himalayas with its towering conifers, cedars and oak trees, interspersed with snow-fed lakes and rushing rivers.
You will go on a trail walk through the awe-inspiring Himalayas to admire the sheer beauty, majesty and compelling picturesque views. You will have time to explore the treasured resort of Shimla nestled on the foothills of the Himalayas with its cooler temperatures, calmer energy and scented pine trees. Shimla is built over several hills and connecting ridges. It was the former summer capital during the British Rule.
You will then take the Shatabdi Express back to Delhi and then visit Agra to view the majestic Taj Mahal, built by 20,000 artisans over a 20-year period, as a mausoleum dedicated to Emperor Shah Jahan’s favourite wife who died at childbirth. Made with polished white marble and inlaid with the King’s jewels, the Taj Mahal is one of the world’s most recognisable buildings.
Next up is the rail journey on board the Kota Jan Shatabdi Express to arrive at Ranthambore for a two-night safari adventure. Here you will experience a thrilling jungle safari in an open-topped 4WD vehicle to catch a glimpse of the elusive Bengal tiger and other wildlife.*
You will then transfer to Jaipur and spend two nights exploring the Pink City, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan. Surrounded by colourful old quarters and beautiful countryside, you will be taken by jeep to the grand, fairy-tale Amber Fort built from yellow and pink sandstone and white marble before visiting the enchanting City Palace, home to the current ruling Royal family – it is a sight to behold.
You will return to Delhi for an overnight stay. Visit the Lotus Temple, an architectural marvel designed to look like a half-opened flower. Make your way to Baba Kharak Singh Marg to find traditional Indian craftsmen working in emporiums to get gifts for family and friends.
