Hurtigruten has been sailing the Norwegian coast since 1893, visiting 34 coastal communities across all seasons, to showcase the authentic everyday life.

You can choose a variety of adventures scheduled for 2022 and 2023.

There’s the Classic Roundtrip Voyage, a 12-day voyage sailing the entire coastal route with 34 ports of call with prices starting from $2111 per person. You will sail past 100 fjords, 1000 mountains, cross the Arctic Circle and hunt the Northern Lights in winter or enjoy 24 hours of daylight under the Midnight Sun in summer.

You begin your journey at the charming city of Bergen, the gateway to Norway’s fjords. Visit the UNESCO-listed district of Bryggen with its colourful wharfs dating back to the 14th century.

You can also take a stroll along Bergen’s cobblestone alleyways and visit its famous fish market.

You will call at Alesund, renowned for it beautiful Art Nouveau architecture and Trondheim which you can discover via an optional kayak excursion on the River Nid. You will then cross the Arctic Circle to hunt the Northern Lights in winter or experience the Midnight Sun in summer.

Dog-sledding in Tromso

You will also visit Tromso where you can go for a thrilling optional dog-sledge ride as huskies pull you over the frozen landscape past stunning snowy plateaus to search for the magical Northern Lights.

You can experience snowshoeing adventures or even go deep-sea fishing on an Arctic fjord.

The ship will then sail to the northernmost tip of the European continent to North Cape to visit a tiny fishing village, then cruise to the heartland of the Sami people.

You will then sail and dock at Kirkenes, close to the Russian border where your ship will turn around for its return journey. At Vardo, you can even go for a very chilly swim in the icy Arctic Ocean.

To celebrate the crossing of the Arctic Circle, you will taste a spoonful of cod liver oil to mark an old, Arctic tradition and when you arrive at Kristiansund, the cured cod capital of Norway, you will be able to savour some dried cod before arriving back in Bergen.

The magical Northern Lights

Here you will travel through Norway, Finland and Estonia on an escorted small group of travellers, where you can experience husky and reindeer rides, board one of the world’s famous trains, the Flam Railway and hunt the magical Northern Lights.

There’s also Complete Norway Arctic Winter and Northern Lights journey in 2022 and 2023 with prices starting from $3728 per person.
