Imagine Holidays Queen Elizabeth
Onboard Queen Elizabeth, you will discover Cunard’s sense of occasion and grand heritage from glamorous ballroom dancing at the Queens Room, lawn bowls on the open deck to traditional afternoon tea served by white-gloved waiters.
Dine like a King or Queen at three main gourmet restaurants, watch a polished Broadway show at the Royal Court Theatre or chill out at the tranquil spa to switch off your mind and body during a therapeutic massage at the hands of an expert masseuse.
Wake up early the next day with a camera on hand ready to capture the special moments when Queen Elizabeth sails through mirror-smooth waters where you can spot spectacular fiords in the South Island which are in sharp contrast to the majestic mountains rising in the Fiordland National Park. Keep a look out for wildlife such as the Little Blue penguin, resident fur seals and dolphins as waterfalls crash down sheer cliffs into the still, deep waters. It will be one of the most Instagrammable moments to capture.
You will reach your first port of call at Dunedin, the gateway to Otago Peninsula. Here you will meet locals steeped in Scottish heritage with their homegrown tartan. The city with its mix of Scottish, Maori, Victorian and Edwardian architecture will be interesting to explore as you visit the themed gardens at Larnach Castle. Keep a look out for wildlife such as sea lions, albatrosses and rare penguins.
Queen Elizabeth will then head to Wellington, renowned for its art galleries and museums. Take a ride on the historical Wellington Cable Car to the top and be rewarded with magnificent views of the ocean and city.
On sea days, you will have plenty of opportunities to share cocktails with new friends at different bars such as the Gin & Fizz or the Golden Lion Pub. If you are a big jazz fan, head to the Yacht Club.
Your next port of call is Auckland, home to the largest Polynesian population in the world with Maori street names and statues dotted all over the city. You can take a ferry ride to the inspiring Hauraki Gulf or simply wander around the city’s oldest park, Auckland Domain.
The next day you will experience the sparkling waters of the Bay of Islands with unspoilt beaches where you can kayak, dive and sail. If time permits, take a boat to the biggest island, Urupukapuka, a bird sanctuary with lots of walking trails.
Queen Elizabeth will take two days sailing back to Sydney so you can spend your time enjoying the service and activities onboard from watching dazzling West End-style musicals, and Shakespearean plays to stand-up comedians at the Royal Court Theatre.
When the ship docks at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Sydney Harbour, it is time to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth.
