Queen Mary 2 at Cape Town harbour

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 is the most magnificent of all ocean liners, built for regal sailing that harks back to the Golden Era of sailing. The ship radiates sheer opulence, charm and glamour with multiple dining options served on classic Wedgwood china and Waterford crystal. Enjoy afternoon tea served by white-gloved waiters. Dine like a Queen on classic British and French cuisine at Britannia and the Grills restaurants, savour the finest premium steaks at The Verandah or taste a range of mouth-watering dishes at Kings Court buffet.

There’s never a dull moment when picking what to do in-between meals. There’s the spectacular show at the planetarium, learn how to fence, play Cunard’s traditional games of shuffleboard and deck quoits or chill out at the Mareel Spa with a self-indulgent massage.

And after a sumptuous dinner, watch a dazzling West End-style of productions at the Royal Court Theatre, listen to the pulsating beat of the ship’s sophisticated G32 nightclub or dance away the night away at the glamorous ball in the Queen’s Room.

Your holiday starts when you fly to Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city with its electric energy, buzzing markets, breweries and restaurants.

You will transfer to the secluded lodge nestled in the Pilanesberg National Park, a  serene place of breathtaking beauty and home to abundant wildlife where you will go for daily bush walks and game drives to track down Africa’s “Big Five” – the elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and rhino. You won’t be disappointed.

You will then fly to Zambia to see one of the world’s biggest waterfalls, the Victoria Falls and watch spellbound by the cascades of water crashing over the cliffs. You will then go on a Lady Livingstone River Safari for a gentle cruise to admire the wildlife and astonishing sunset, followed by a a divine dinner onboard the Royal Livingstone Express, a restored locomotive train.

Cape Town

You will then fly to Cape Town, surrounded by the imposing Table Mountain to enjoy the fascinating melting pot of cultures. Go for a cable car ride to Table Mountain’s flat top for some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscape.

You will then board the regal Queen Mary 2 for an memorable 16-night full-board cruise to Fremantle. Here you will experience Cunard’s legendary style, elegance and enjoy the brand’s sense of occasion.

On ocean days, you can choose to relax and indulge in a massage at the Mareel Spa, watch the amazing show at the planetarium, play a spot of lawn bowls or deck quoits. Alternatively you can just curl up in a leather armchair and read a book at the library.

Learn about Africa’s Zulu heritage in Durban

When Queen Mary 2 calls at Durban, take a gentle stroll along the esplanade at Durban’s Golden Mile stretch of beach or you can soak up the buzz of the city on the lively Florida Road with its café culture and galleries. You can also learn about the Africa’s native Zulu and Afro-Indian heritage as more Indians live in Durham than any other country outside India itself.

Magical Mauritius

When Queen Mary 2 sails into the sparkling waters of Reunion Island between Madagascar and Mauritius, you will be blown away by the sandy beaches, vivid coral reefs and impressive volcanoes. The island blends an interesting fusion of French, Indian, African and Chinese cultures.

At Port Louis, the gateway to idyllic Mauritius you will face amazing white sandy beaches, Mykonos-blue, clear waters and pristine coral reefs. Here you can swim, snorkel amongst multi-coloured fish or simply laze by the beach.

Over the next few days, you will sail the oceans with many activities to distract you from lazing by the Pavillion pool, enjoying the Jacuzzi with a glass of bubbles in hand or practising your golf swings at the nets.
