To celebrate Hurtigruten’s 130th anniversary next year, Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express will launch two new iconic voyages – the Svalbard Express and The North Cape Express.

The two new voyages – one revived from history and the other poised to make history – will explore the Arctic wildlife prowled by polar bears, the expansive landscape and search for the magical Northern Lights at the end of the world.

Ms Trollfjord in Norway

The extraordinary sailings will be aboard the newly, refurbished MS Trollfjord.

Hurtigruten has been sailing up and down the Norwegian coastline from Bergen, crossing the Arctic Circle to Kirkenes since 1893. This signature voyage covering 2500 nautical miles offers some of the most stunning scenery in the world and  was the lifeline of 34 coastal communities.

The historic North Cape Express is the first ever Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express to sail from Oslo, Norway’s buzzing capital to the oldest lighthouse at Lindesnes, located at the southernmost point of Norway. Over 16-days, MS Trollfjord will venture north to discover the snow-covered reaches of the North Cape.

North Cape

You will marvel at the amazing fjords and dramatic cliffs and when you draw open the curtains in your cabin, you can watch the Northern Lights dance and dart across the night sky which you will remember for a lifetime.

Prices for the 16-day, North Cape Express journey onboard MS Trollfjord start from $4054 pp with departures from 24 September 2023 to 10 March 2024.

And if you do not catch Mother Nature’s ultimate light show, the Northern Lights, Hurtigruten will give you another six or seven day Classic Voyage free of charge.

The magical Northern Lights

The Svalbard Express is a nostalgic voyage taking you back to the northernmost reaches of the world. Bathed in the ever-changing light of Norway’s Midnight Sun, the 16-day journey showcases the best of then and now, reflecting Hurtigruten’s love for bold adventure. The iconic route previously existed between 1968 and 1982, will visit remote hamlets, rarely visited islands and pristine Arctic wilderness prowled by polar bears and sea eagles.

Prices for the Svalbard Express sailing from Bergen, Longyearbyen to Bergen, start from $5974 pp with departures from June to September 2023.

Hurtigruten Svalbard Express

Life onboard the extensively refurbished MS Trollfjord harks back to the golden era of small-ship sailing. The two-storey observation lounge is the best place to take in the uninhibited views of the world’s unbelievable landscapes. You can also watch the stunning landscapes from the Panorama Bar with a cocktail in hand or snuggle under the covers and observe the magic of the Norwegian coast unfold from the privacy of your expedition suite or Arctic superior cabin.

As MS Trollfjord sail past the fjords that provide fresh fish, mountain slopes where succulent lamb is reared and fresh herbs are grown, cuisine onboard the ship is amazingly fresh, served with seaweed and skrei (wild cod).

Exquisite seafood cuisine

Seafood is the speciality fare at the main restaurant where you can feast on hand-plucked scallops, melt-in-mouth Arctic char (cold-water fish), juicy crayfish paired with premium wine.

It will be a journey of a lifetime.
