Silver Wind

Silver Wind was launched in 1995 and refurbished in 2008. It is popular with well-travelled couples over the age of 50 who expect good service and fine food. Silver Wind sails Mediterranean itineraries, which includes departure from Venice, Rome and Barcelona, and Caribbean cruises from Barbados, Fort Lauderdale and Puerto Rico. The Silversea Cruises ship is 17,235 tonnes and can accommodate 296 passengers with 222 crew.

Silver Wind has 143 suites, ranging from 240 square feet (Vista Suites) to 827 square feet for the two-bedroom Owner’’s Suites. All suites have mini bars stocked with guests’ preferences of drinks and refreshments, flat-screen televisions, DVD players, free Wi-Fi, walk-in closets, marble bathrooms and hair-dryers. Guests can choose between Bvlgari and Acqua di Palma toiletries.

Silver Wind has a variety of gastronomic delights. The Restaurant opens at 8am for breakfast, lunch is served at 12.30 to 2pm and dinner is available from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. All three meals have open seating arrangements. Le Champagne, the only Wine Restaurant by Relais & Châteaux at sea, serves a set tasting menu of regionally inspired dishes, and the more casual La Terrazza serves buffet-style breakfast and lunch and, in the evening, transforms into an à la carte Italian restaurant. There is also a Pool Bar & Grill, plus 24-hour in-cabin dining.

The Spa at Silversea has four treatment rooms and offers a range of  therapies including facials, body wraps and massages. There is a sauna and steam room with a separate changing room for men and women. A full range of beauty salon services including hairstyling, manicures, and pedicures is available on board. The fitness centre has free weights, weight machines, state-of-the-art treadmills, elliptical trainers and recumbent and upright bicycles and well as classes in aerobics, yoga, Pilates and circuit training.

Silver Wind does not prohibit children to sail. However, it does not have special facilities for kids.

– Cruise Passenger

“I went on Silversea’s Silver Wind for only the 2nd time in November 2016. The first time was 20 years ago during her Inaugural season. Considering she is nigh on 20 years old the state of her upkeep was fantastic. My suite was of course in the style of 20 years ago, Spotless and kept so by a very keen maid aided by a butler.A large walk in wardrobe with lots of coat hangers and an easily accessed safe. A lovely comfortable bed and pillows.  the bathroom was a disaster without a walk in shower and being disabled it was a nightmare to have to climb in over a highsided bath to have a shower. There are apparently only 2 disabled suites on this ship .Yes there were plenty of handholds once you got in. “ Bandruidh
