One of the largest ships in the world, Oasis of the Seas launched in 2009. Another Royal Caribbean marvel, Oasis is undoubtedly for active cruisers who seek a lively and exciting holiday. The ship offers jam-packed activities for adults and children as well as plenty of dining options. Oasis is innovatively equipped with modern facilities offering an energetic atmosphere that appeal to all sorts of passengers. Since the ship houses a lot of passengers, you may want to book entertainment shows and dining in advance although a few of them accepts walk-in guests.

Oasis has a mind-blowing array of cabins, as is expected of a large ship, with everything from interiors and oceanview rooms to suites. There isn’t much natural light around the ship as most public places do not have windows, so you might opt to book an oceanview room. However, if you want to be at the middle of things, choose a cabin overlooking the Boardwalk or the Promenade. All standard cabins have twin beds that convert into queens, interactive flat screen TVs, enough shelves and drawer space, and room for suitcases under beds. Suite class passengers have access to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen restaurant and can enjoy a nightly cocktail “hour” with free drinks from 5pm to 8.30pm. You might want to choose in advance where to eat because the ship offers a nearly dozen options. Oasis of the Seas is one ship where you will want to allocate some money for specialty dining. Breakfast is served for everyone in American Icon Grill from 7am to 9 am, with a selection of pastries, cereal, smoked salmon, eggs Benedict, pancakes or quiche. Lunch is served at Brasserie 30. For formal dining, head to the Grande, which has traditional set seating. Dine at Johnny Rockets for burgers, fries and shakes in the heart of Boardwalk. The Windjammer Marketplace is the ship’s extensive and busy buffet dining area.

The two-storey Vitality Spa and Fitness offers a wide range of body treatments including massages and therapies. The nearby gym offers complimentary fitness classes including stretching, total body conditioning and abs. Indoor cycling and yoga cost $25 and $15 respectively. The jogging track has inspirational messages encouraging you to keep going.

Royal Caribbean has partnered with DreamWorks to bring characters on board to meet and greet guest and offer themed parties, which promise loads of fun for the children. Children’s activities include art projects and face painting. Royal Caribbean ships are “autism-friendly” and Oasis offers toys that can be borrowed for in-cabin use as well as movies, games and activities that are suitable for children with autism. On a typical day, teens can play board games, join a basketball knockout tournament, go on a scavenger hunt, and take a mix class from the Scratch DJ program. Group babysitting is available for children aged three to 11 years at the Adventure Ocean facilities.
