Carnival Legend

Table of Contents
Carnival Legend introduced some significant firsts for Carnival Cruise Lines, including an onboard wedding chapel and alternative dining options. In 2014, Legend underwent a major refurbishment to prepare her for the Australian market. Highlights include the Australian-only Green Thunder slide (the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea as of 2014), Serenity Retreat for adults, RedFrog Pub.
This 2,680-passenger (full capacity) ship boasts museum-quality artwork and an impressive 80 per cent outside cabin ratio.
Carnival has a laid-back dress policy with one or two nights per cruise designated “Cruise Elegant” and two themed nights.
As of 2024, Carnival Legend was moved from Australia to be deployed in Europe and North America and has undergone another major refurbishment to cater for the international market.
The cruise line added several of the brand’s popular food and beverage venues like the Chef’s Table and the Heroes Tribute Bar.
Carnival Cruise Line has renamed the steakhouse Farenheit 555 and the casino has also been expanded.
The refurbishment also included some fun things for the family as well. The youth spaces, Camp Ocean and Circle C were update and the top deck now has a mini golf course.
Accommodation
Legend boasts a high outside-cabin ratio – 80 per cent of the 1,062 staterooms are outside cabins and 80 per cent of these have a verandah big enough for two chairs and a small table. All cabins are fitted with twin beds convertible to queens, closet and drawer space, flat-screen television, refrigerator, telephone and a private safe. Bathrooms are practical with liquid soap and shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower.
To accommodate big families and groups, there are 53 sets of interconnecting cabins. Suites have separate dressing and sitting areas, a whirlpool and larger balconies. Extra services for suite passengers include priority embarkation and disembarkation.
Food
One of the main focuses of Legend‘s refurbishment was new dining concepts. The buffet-style Unicorn Café is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also serves free 24-hour pizza and ice-cream. The bi-level, 1,250-seater Truffles serves three-course meals with wine.
Guests can choose to dine at set meal times or opt to walk-in any time between 5:30 and 9:30 pm. Onboard Carnival Legend is Pizzeria del Capitano serving thin crust pizza, Guy’s Burger Joint curated by the celebrity chef Guy Fieri, the Indian-inspired Masala Tiger, Asian specialities at Mongolian Wok, fresh seafood at the Seafood Shack, the Lido Marketplace as well as the RedFrog Pub.
Activities
The 1,3447-square-metre Cloud 9 Spa is a bi-level facility housing a spa, salon and the fitness centre. Operated by Steiner, the spa offers a wide variety of treatments from aroma stone therapy, full-body and scalp massages, seaweed wraps and mudpacks to slimming and toning therapies.
The spa complex has 10 private treatment rooms, locker facilities, saunas and steam rooms.
Families
Camp Carnival is the headquarters for the supervised program the ship offers for kids. Age-appropriate activities are divided into five age-specific groups under Camp Ocean (ages two-11years – with children aged two to five called “Penguins”, six to eight-year-olds called “Sting Rays” and nine to 11-year-olds called “Sharks”). Circle C is the hub for teens, while older teenagers can hang out in Club 02.
Carnival Legend WaterWorks is the pinnacle of Camp Carnival. It houses the Green Thunder waterslide, the fastest and highest waterslide at sea, and the SplashZone featuring two little purple waterslides that descend into a pool. New for Australian cruisers, the Seuss at Sea program and the Hasbro, the Game Show feature Dr. Seuss characters and a special breakfast menu. The Night Owl program from 10pm until 1am offers group babysitting for kids aged 12 months to 11 years for $8 per hour, per child.
