AIDAprima was launched in 2015. The bright, casual ship appeals to German-speaking couples, singles and families who enjoy entertainment and a casual atmospere. The 125,000 tonne ship has 16 passenger decks and carries 3,286 passengers and 900 crew.

AIDAprima has 1,643 staterooms, ranging from small interior cabins to two-bedroom suites. Suites are sized from 344 to 882 square feet and cabins start at 129 square feet. Cabins have twin beds that convert to a double and a bathroom with a shower.

There are 13 dining venues on board. As well as large, open-seating buffets, there are specialty restaurants that require reservations. These include the Venice-inspired Casa Nova, French-style Brasserie French Kiss, Rossini Gourmet Restaurant and Buffalo Steakhouse.

The Body & Soul Spa Complex spans two decks with saunas, indoor whirlpool, massage and treatment rooms and relaxation rooms. There is an open-air wellness deck for nude sunbathing, plus a fitness centre and a beauty salon for pedicures, manicures and barber/hairdresser services.

AIDAprima is recommended for families with children. Kids are split into age groups: Seepferdchen (4-6 year olds), Delfine (7-9 year olds), Sharks (10-11 year olds), Orcas (12-13 year olds), and Teens (14-17 year olds). Each age group has a specific playroom and there is an activities program similar to a holiday camp.
