Adventure of the Seas is a large ship that carries unique amenities like an ice-skating rink, rollerblading track and rock-climbing wall. It has also brought to sea a shopping mall-esque boulevard called the Royal Promenade dotted with retails stores, coffee shops and bars. The ship is brimming with entertainment from venues like the Lyric Theater, the Casino Royale, nightclubs and bars. The usual crowd is 35- 55-year-olds, who board this ship with their families. Dress code is mostly casual wear except on two formal nights where guests wear suits and cocktail gowns. Gratuity for Adventure of the Seas is $13.50 per person, per day and $16.50 for suite passengers.

Adventure of the Seas has 1,557 staterooms and 939 have ocean views – and almost 50 per cent of the cabins have balconies. All staterooms are gives a Caribbean feel with its bright colour choices of green, orange and yellow. Standard layouts include a fully furnished room with bathroom, television, mini-bar, phone and hair dryer. A twin bed can be configured into a queen bed. As for suite categories, the Junior Suite has similar amenities to staterooms except it comes with a bathtub and a large living room area. The Royal Family Suite has two bedrooms, the Grand Suite measures about 33-36 square metres, the Owner’s Suite’s distinction is the additional whirlpool bath. The biggest accommodation on board is the Royal Suite, with a 93-square-metre living space with a baby grand piano as a centerpiece and a 113-square-metre private balcony.

With the many restaurant options and a 24-hour fresh food service, guests will be spoilt for choice. The ship has three main dining rooms, named after famous composers – Mozart, Strauss and Vivaldi. Two small private wings offer a more intimate setting: La Cetra and La Notte, each with 58 seats. Cruisers may pick the pre-set dining times, or My Time Dining which allows them to pick their preferred time for dinner. They may choose whether they want it at 6pm or 8.30pm. For other dining choices, guests can reserve a table at Portofino, the ship’s upscale Italian restaurant. For breakfast and lunch, there is the Windjammer and Adventure of the Seas buffet restaurant. Johnny Rockets offers burgers, hot dogs, chili fries and other American staples. For pastries, sandwiches and pizza, the Royal Promenade and the Café Promenade is a place to be.

Adventure of the Seas is brimming with many ways to relax and rejuvenate. The almost 1,400-square-metre, bi-level spa zone has a salon and spa facility that offers different treatments and services such as manicures, pedicures, hair styling, massages and facials. The Solarium pool and whirlpools are in an adult-only zone. Golf, basketball, volleyball and rock-climbing are just some of the sport activities Royal Caribbean has brought at sea. A cruise line trademark, the rollerblading rink and ice-skating rink are at Studio B. All of these amenities are free of charge.

Adventure of the Seas aims to not only offer family-friendly activities, but also to cater to every age group’s entertainment. For the kids, there is Adventure Ocean, a program where kids are divided based on their age groups to identify the appropriate games for them. Royal Caribbean has partnered with Fisher Price, Mattel and Crayola to offer a variety of kid- and family-friendly games and activities for all ages. These activities may include the Alphabet Scavenger Hunt, story time, Adventure Theater acting classes, bingo, do surfboards, science activities, karaoke contests, rock-wall challenge, Optix nightclub and video game competitions. Late-night group babysitting for kids from three to 11 years is available from 10pm to 2am at a rate of $6 per hour, per child. Children must be fully toilet trained. In-room babysitting for kids over the age of one costs $19 per hour for up to three children within the same family and requires a 24-hour advance reservation.
