Royal Caribbean is trialing a new social media idea – by putting an Instagrammer
onboard its ships to help you take the perfect photos.

Onboard Symphony of the Seas, the largest ship in the world, the Instagramer-in-
Chief will help guests capture the perfect holiday snaps. The social media app is
now one of the most common ways to keep friends and family up-to- date.

Recently announced by Royal Caribbean, Russ Francis, the Instagrammer-in-
Chief is currently onboard the inaugural sailing from Barcelona.
Russ was found by Royal Caribbean after the line held a competition in search for
the first Instagram Intern-ship at sea in 2017. His new role will be to help
passengers get the right pics for their Instagram account.

“For something to be truly Instagrammable it has to be unique enough that people
want to show off about it,” said Russ Francis, Royal Caribbean Instagrammer-in-
Chief.
“It’s so much more than being a pretty setting. Extraordinary Instagram content
causes a reaction, whether that’s jaws dropping in amazement or mouths
watering at the very best dishes, it’s about capturing experiences that ‘wow’ the
viewer.”

Russ has also pointed out some of Symphony of the Seas’ best places to take
Instagram-worthy shots like the Paradox Void art installation above The
Promenade, the Ultimate Abyss, the line’s 10-storey slide, Central Park which has
12,000 tropical plans in an open-air neighbourhood as well as the amphitheatre-
style Aqua Theatre which showcases aerial diving and underwater acrobatics.

The ship also has a two-storey Family Suite which has a specially built LEGO wall
as well as a slide from the kids’ room to the bottom storey.

Royal Caribbean is also launching a new app which helps guests out with their
travel frustrations. Also being trialled on Symphony of the Seas, here is a
breakdown of how the new RCCL app can make your cruise more enjoyable.

Dining
The app will help you see all the dining options available at each restaurant. It
will also have the opening hours for each restaurant for breakfast, lunch or
dinner. Prices will be displayed next to the specialty restaurants and there is also
a button where each restaurant is located on the ship.

Activities
Want to know when the FlowRider is open? The app will let you know when it’s
in operation. It will also show you where everything is on the ship.

Spa
The app will let you know what treatments are available and what time the spa is
open.

Shore Excursions
While you can’t book shore excursions on the app, you can find out information
on what Royal Caribbean is offering.

Entertainment

The entertainment section of the app details everything from the AquaTheatre to
after hours dance parties. It also includes times on all shows, movies, stand-up
comedy, magic and the Broadway shows.
