Viking has announced 10 new pre- and post-extensions on their popular river journeys, stating that these additions will streamline trip coordination for both travellers and travel agents.
The growing number of extension options highlights how cruise lines are working to better align guests’ extended holidays with cruise schedules.
Viking stated: “Pre- and post-cruise extensions are a savvy way for curious travellers to maximise their time away, allowing for extended exploration in the city of embarkation, disembarkation or even a new city altogether. Agents can significantly enhance their clients’ travel experiences by offering a seamless and stress-free journey. This approach eliminates the need to coordinate a separate itinerary of hotels, transfers and tours.”
The new extensions include 2 nights in Cairo, an extension to the Pharaohs & Pyramids River Nile cruise. This extension promises a look around the historic city, experiencing Cairo’s mix of tradition and modernity. It will introduce you to a vibrant culture, with plenty of mosques, madrasas and bazaars to see.
There are also nights in Milan and Saint Moritz on offer for those who book the Rhine Getaway cruise. This extension would take you on a stunning rail journey aboard the Bernina Express, through the Alps and northern Italy.
Some extensions are pre-only, meaning that you’ll have to do them before your river cruise, while others are post-only (after your cruise). There is also an option to do pre- and post- extensions.
