Uniworldโ€™s fleet of luxury river ships is ready to take on the 2020 season in Europe when it is safe to travel again, says the lineโ€™s President and CEO Ellen Bettridge.

Writing on her blog entitled The Art of River Cruising Ms Bettridge says: โ€œOur fleet stands ready to sail along with our wonderful crew, whom Iโ€™m happy to report we will be able to retain.โ€

She says that SS Sao Gabriel will be the most luxurious ship on Portugalโ€™s Douro River when the season restarts. The shipโ€™s entire top deck is fitted with suites and additional dining venues.

โ€œThe incredible essence of Portugal has been brought to life onboard with bright Portuguese tiles and local art.โ€

The SS Antoinette which sails the popular Rhine itinerary has been refreshed with three of her suites transformed and all her staterooms rejuvenated.

Uniworld will launch its Amazon River cruises in September 2020 sailing out of the port of Iquitos.

โ€œFor both the 11-day and 15-day experiences we have partnered with Aqua Expeditions. Guests will enjoy the all-suite Aria Amazon ship. The itineraries have been on sale for only a few short months and I am thrilled to see that 82 per cent of the guests are past passengers. Come join them,โ€ Ms Bettridge says.

The line has also spent the winter months improving the crewโ€™s living quarters onboard the River Duchess, the SS Beatrice and River Princess. โ€œThe new crew cabins are well designed, bright and welcoming, because our wonderful crew deserves the very best โ€“ just like our guests.โ€

The transformation of the River Countess ship to SS La Venezia is almost completed.

โ€œThe final stages were brought to a halt when our team from the Netherlands were sent home prior to the quarantine to ensure they remained safe.

โ€œWe are anxious to get back onboard to make the final touches and at last show off the latest new floating boutique hotel in Venice.

โ€œSS Venezia has been designed to celebrate Venice history of artistic movements, immersing guests in Venetian style and antiquity,โ€ she says.

SS Venezia will be decked out in exquisite Venetian fabric and will boast several restaurants and bars to reflect Veniceโ€™s unique cuisine.

She said that Uniworld is finalising 2021 brochures and developing its 2022 itineraries โ€œso we are ready to go with when the time is right,โ€ she says on her blog.
