Ever on the cusp of cutting edge fashion, Uniworld River Cruises has landed an exclusive partnership with fashion brand Camilla – and the brand’s icon Camilla Franks has produced a Guide to Egypt.
After experiencing a hosted 12-day journey on the Nile River aboard Uniworld’s SS Sphinx, Camilla Franks has launched her guide plus a new Sun collection of flirty kaftan dresses, inspired by Egypt’s pyramids and civilisation.
In a message sent to her database of faithful clients, Camila says: “Discover the stories behind the prints from the House of the Sun collection and join founder and creative director Camilla Fraks for an inspiring journey down the River Nile and through the Valley of the Queens, kindly hosted by Uniworld Boutique River Cruises.
“Step into a world of modern mysteries, sacred symbols and techno talismans. These Egypt-inspired creations are cosmic canvases, splashed with soulful stories, artisanal adventures and divine encounters.”
On cruising on the Nile, Camilla said:”There was beauty everywhere. In could hear children singing and laughing along the banks as majestic waters, older than time, stretched out before me. I was surrounded by contrasts. New and old, modern and ancient, light, shadow and breathtaking colour.”
But it was at historic Luxor to visit the Valley of the Queens and Kings that she got her inspiration.
“It was here I felt the first flicker of inspiration for my Valley of the Queens, they called her Nefertari and Under Scarab Skies prints,” she added.
Camilla draws inspiration for Sun collection
While on an excursion on land, she spotted a lilac turban – “the most incredible shade which became the main colour of one of my prints: Under the Scarab Skies.”
The Valley of the Queens also inspired her to weave lotus flowers and papyrus, scarabs, wings, cartouche and ankhs with vibrant splashes of colour – hieroglyphs and spellbinding symbols have also been hand-drawn by in-house artists.
