Will this be the biggest pool on Europe’s rivers?

Editor,

Tauckโ€™s new river ships MS Andorinha will have a pop-up restaurant on the sun deck that rises from the stern of ship on hydraulic lifts to become an informal eatery serving steak and regional fare.

The pop-up called Arthurโ€™s will be a more casual alternative to the shipโ€™s more formal main restaurant Compass Rose. Arthurโ€™s will also serve complimentary fruit, snacks and beverages.

But it is the pool that is the real star. The sun deck will have an infinity pool that is five-times the size of the plunge pools on the lineโ€™s other vessels. It will also have canopied Balinese day beds, an outdoor grill for casual barbeques and a full-service bar.

The shipโ€™s lobby, reception area, main restaurant and lounge will have natural light from a glass-ceiling atrium which spans two floors.

The ship will have 42 cabins including 12, 300-sq foot suites on the upper deck.

The 84-guest MS Andorinha will officially be launched next March when she will sail on three new itineraries on Portugalโ€™s Douro River including a seven-night cruise with a two night hotel stay in Madrid and Lisbon, an eight-day cruise and an eight-day Tauck Bridges cruise for families.

The MS Andorinha will be christened on 31 March in Porto and sail on the Douro in the first week of April.
