APT’s new river cruise fleet, set to launch next month, will introduce new and innovative forms of river entertainment like movies under the stars, the line’s UK and Ireland Managing Director Paul Melinis has revealed.
He told a recent conference in Europe: “We have a lot of guests coming across to river cruises and the one thing they always say is that they wish we could bring an ocean experience to the river platform, and that’s what we are going to do.
“There’s this stigma that because guests are a bit more mature, they want to go to bed early and get up early, but that isn’t a fact and we have seen that since introducing the Irish bar McGeary’s on our Travelmarvel ships.
“In 2025, for the first time, we are running a Danube cruise where we will be doing something different and special to enhance the experience, such as movies under the stars, something that is done on the ocean and we are going to bring that to river.”
A live Irish music night in the bar, silent discos and an onboard expert showing passengers how to take the best smartphone photos are also under consideration.
