The Amazon River:

The Amazon is undoubtedly a hot spot for travellers right now. Peru offers a gateway to the lush frontier of rainforest, met with vibrant culture and bustling river life. It makes sense then that A&K is maximising the brand new ship Pure Amazon with a multitude of itineraries that allow access to the region, the river, the bustling Peruvian culture, and even the land and rail adventures that are also on offer. But the number one draw card of course, is to explore the Amazon River by boat. From here, guests can immerse themselves in the national reserves, the wildlife and the entire Amazon Basin, one of the greatest remaining wildernesses on earth.

June to November is the low-water season, offering an abundance of wildlife habitats to explore for guests, especially bird lovers. In the high water season from December to May, the tributaries Maranon and Ucayali will flood, effectively submerging the Pacaya-Samiria reserve. Rather than being limiting, it in fact offers an opening to land-based encounters and riverscape in a new equally magical way.
