New Manfredi restaurant on Viking River

Viking River Cruises is changing up its dining options by introducing a new restaurant onboard its fleet of river Longships.

Manfredi’s will be a complimentary venue open for dinner only on the Aquavit Terrace which will replace the casual buffet that was previously in that space at the at time. Viking recommend that guests book as the space is limited to 16 to 24 passengers per night.

The restaurant idea is from Viking’s head chef Anthony Mauboussin and is an example of the company’s cross between its ocean and river lines. The restaurant is still in the testing phase and is only available on Longship itineraries.

On Viking Ocean, Manfredi’s is a popular Italian venue. The menu which will be on the river, is similar to the fixed six-course dinner on the ocean ships.

A sample menu, posted on Cruise Critic’s river forum includes antipasti with parmesan, bresaola, marinated and grilled eggplant, zucchini and scallion; panzanella estiva, with asparagus, cucumber, white beans, fresh herb vinaigrette, mozzarella and roasted garlic croutons; pasta e fagiola soup; spaghetti al carbonara; parmigiana de pollo and tiramisu for dessert. Italian wines are also said to be available.
