The first official photos of the S.S. Emilie have been released by Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, revealing a gilded, luxurious vessel inspired by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt.
The 154-guest super ship, which set sail on her inaugural season in March, is the luxury line’s first brand-new build since 2021 and the centrepiece of its 50th birthday clelebrations.
The newly released images confirm that the ship lives up to what Uniworld has been promising: a floating Art Nouveau masterpiece with pops of gold and jewel tones that reflect the signature style of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, the inspiration behind the ship.
The ship was named S.S. Emilie after Klimt’s muse Emilie Flöge and her presence is felt from the moment guests step on the ship with a large portrait of the Viennese designer hanging in the entry way.
A floating boutique hotel on The Danube
S.S. Emilie has 77 staterooms and suites across the ship to carry 154 passengers. In a first for Uniworld, guests can book a spacious two-bedroom suite when reserving a Grand Suite with the adjoining Deluxe French Balcony stateroom. Grand suites include built-in closets, individual thermostats and flat-screen TV with infotainment centre, as well as marble bathrooms with Asprey bath and body products, plush towels, comfortable bathrobes and slippers, a rain shower and tub, backlit magnifying mirror, and a secluded toilet area.
On the S.S. Emilie Uniworld has done away with the central buffet, moving it to one end of the dining room instead which can be closed off behind floor-to-ceiling glass doors for a la carte service.
The gym is on the top deck with floor-to-ceiling windows giving guests a workout with a view.
Uniworld has added five Super Ships to its fleet since 2020, including the Mekong Jewel on the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia; Aria Amazon on the Maranon and Ucayali rivers in Peru; S.S. São Gabriel on the Douro in Portugal; S.S. La Venezia on the Venetian Lagoon; and S.S. Sphinx on the Nile in Egypt.
Next year, the S.S. Audrey and S.S. Marlene, sister ships to Emilie and named after Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich respectively, will be launched next year.
