The luxury Crystal Debussy has been christened by godmother Broadway star and singer Rachel York on Tuesday.

Hosted by Crystal River Cruises vice president and managing director Walter Littlejohn and Crystal president and CEO Tom Wolber, the ceremony was held in Amsterdam where Debussy was sailing on the popular Amsterdam to Basel itinerary.

“Crystal River Cruises has raised the bar of excellence with each new ship and now again as Crystal Debussy joins the fleet, effectively redefining true luxury in the river industry,” Mr Wolber said at the christening ceremony.

The 106-guest Crystal Debussy is the third of Crystal River Cruises four newly-built ships including Mahler, Bach and Ravel. Debussy embarked on her maiden voyage on the Rhine River on 9 April. She will continue to offer seven and 10-day voyages between Amsterdam and Basel on the Rhine and Moselle rivers visiting Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium in 2018 and 2019.

The all-suite ship with butler service has king-sized beds, balcony windows, walk-in closets, dual vanity in bathrooms, ETRO robes and toiletries.

Debussy has farm-to-table cuisine served in the main Waterside restaurant, Bistro cafes and Vintage Room. Entertainment is held at the Palm Court lounge with sweeping views of the countryside.
