AmaWaterways is on a major expansion drive ordering eight new river ships to be delivered by 2030.

This will take AmaWaterways’ total fleet to more than 40 ships – double the number in 2020.

“Our expanding fleet is a direct response to the strong demand from guests to discover river cruising and Europe’s beautiful rivers,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. “With each new ship, we will continue to sail our guests to the heart of every destination while delivering the high-touch service, elegant design and immersive experiences that define AmaWaterways

The company founded in 2020, focuses on curated itineraries, immersive shore excursions ranging from exclusive culinary and active experiences.

Each day on an AmaWaterways cruise guests have a choice of up to seven included excursions from history-rich walking tours, scenic bike rides, wine tastings to truffle hunting in the south of France.

Onboard, guests enjoy award-winning cuisine and a wellness program with daily exercises classes and holistic experiences. There’s a sun deck walking track, a heated swimming pool and a swim-up bar.

AmaWaterways has one of the highest number of returning guests in river cruising – “a testament to the exceptional experiences that keep travellers coming back year after year,” the company said.

AmaWaterways currently has a fleet of 33 custom-designed ships that sail on Europe’s major rivers, Southeast Asia’s Mekong River, Africa’s Chobe River, Egypt’s Nile River and Colombia’s Magdalena River.
