When Aussies think of a transpacific cruise, their mind most likely goes towards a repositioning cruise between Australia and the USA. They wouldn’t be wrong, these are great transpacific repositioning cruises that often offer exciting new destinations and lower fares.
However, they’re not the only routes for a transpacific cruise. There are other cruises that cross the Pacific, such as those that go in between Asia. These can take routes such as Seattle to Japan or Singapore to Los Angeles and more. This can be an exciting and sometimes surprisingly affordable way for Aussies to tick off multiple bucket list destinations all in one holiday. For example, some of these cruises can show off the best of Japan, and then a week and a half later you’ll be exploring the glaciers of Alaska.
Then of course, as mentioned, you can get classic Aussie repositioning cruises, such as from Sydney to Hawaii or Brisbane to Los Angeles.
If you’re ready for a new adventure and are thinking about exploring some of the above options, here are a few of Cruise Passenger’s pics for a transpacific cruise in 2026 or 2027.
Why opt for Asia/USA cruises
If more fresh and exciting destinations are your aim, then it’s hard to beat a cruise in between Asia and the USA, especially those that offer a combination of Alaskan and Japanese destinations, two world renowned destinations.
For those who are looking for a different type of exploration, this is a great option, and both the USA and Asia have plenty of connections for Aussie flights.

The clear advantage of snapping up one of these cruises is that you’ll only need to get one flight, either leaving from Australia or coming back. This makes travel a lot smoother, and allows you to go and explore some new destinations without having too much travel hassle.
For those who are big fans of cruising to the South Pacific, this also offers a new take on that as you get to go a bit deeper and explore places like Tahiti and French Polynesia, rather than the usual New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
