Terrifying footage has been captured by bystanders at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal, of a man trying to climb the Carnival Adventure.
The footage shows the man attempting to climb the ship from the ropes that attach the ship to the dock.
The crew are seen from the ship’s lookout point, trying to coax the man down.
Bystander footage was obtained by Nine News and it also shows people watching from the shore.
It is unclear when the footage was taken but it is believed to be today as Carnival Adventure was docked in Sydney today.
Cruise Passenger has contacted Carnival Australia for a comment.
A police statement said, “At about 2.55pm today (Saturday 17 May 2025), police were called to a boat terminal at The Rocks, following reports a man had attempted to climb onto a cruise ship via a mooring line.
“On arrival, police attached to Marine Area Command found the man suspended over the water from the mooring line.
“The line was lowered onto a police boat, before the 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
“The man is expected to be charged within the next few hours.”
