- Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Gem have had a very photogenic meet up in Honfleur.
- Guests onboard got enjoy ship tours and a celebration as the river and ocean ships met up where the Seine River meets The English Channel.
As far as photos of cruise ships go, it can’t get much better than two ships meeting, especially when one is an ocean yacht and the other is river ship. This is exactly what happened in harbour of Honfleur, where Scenic Gem and Scenic Eclipse met each other for the first time.
Scenic Gem sails on the Seine River, whereas Scenic Eclipse sails around the world, using its small size and expedition capabilities to embark on all sorts of polar explorations and other exotic sailings.
Guests onboard the two ships got to enjoy the special meeting not just by having a front row seat, but through enjoy a special cake that was prepared and embark on a tour of the other ship.
The cruise line said: “This meeting in Honfleur reflected Scenic’s philosophy: to put guests at the heart of enriching all-inclusive journeys, elevating their experience to the Nth Degree. To mark the occasion, Scenic Gem Captain Ludovic Libs and Scenic Eclipse Captain Radomir Novosel came together for a ceremonial presentation.”
Both ships can be booked right now for future sailings.
Check out the photos below to see the magnificent meeting between the two ships. Despite the very noticeable size difference, Scenic Eclipse only has just under double the capacity of Scenic Gem, with the ships carrying 228 and 128 passengers respectively.
River cruise and expedition cruise both appear to be forms of travel that are on the rise, as holidaymakers who have a bit more cash to spend look for more unique experiences and that can get them away from crowds and into unique landscapes and less explored villages.
