Royal Caribbean’s latest ship, Utopia of the Seas, designed to attract the new to cruise market with shorter voyages, is launching in just five weekends.

This is a game changer for an Oasis Class ship to debut with short getaways as Royal Caribbean has reported their cruisers are getting younger. 

Utopia of the Seas is designed to be a taster cruise before committing to a longer getaway on the seas. 

“With the delivery of Utopia of the Seas, we have the keys to the ultimate weekend. We are proud and excited to soon debut Utopia in a big way.” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. 

Utopia of the Seas has 18 Decks housing 5668 guests on board, with more than 40 ways to dine and drink, the longest dry slide at sea, and hundreds of ways to have fun aboard. These are the highlights of the ship:

For the foodies: 

  • El Loco Fresh serves up Mexican fare that’s insanely delicious. With classic mole sauce and tangy salsa verde topping beef burritos, carnitas, and more – it’s a fiesta of flavour from south of the border. 
  • If you prefer Japanese Izumi is a convenient pickup window that makes its Oasis Class debut, with sushi, Japanese-inspired street food, and more.
  • Next door is the staple Izumi restaurant in its new Central Park location, with a private omakase multicourse experience, guided by the chef; double the teppanyaki tables and al fresco seating.
  • Cruisers can add another destination to their getaway at the Royal Railway Utopia Station. The 20-plus dining options are on deck, with a first-of-its-kind experience. From the Wild West to far-flung destinations, the new venue combines adventure, food, and technology to transport travellers by “train” to any place and time period.
  • For a familiar comfort visit Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. This Italian eatery is now in a new location, spanning two stories, and debuts the first-ever Gio’s Terrazza.
  • Al fresco, holidaymakers can overlook the lively Boardwalk as they enjoy the fan-favourite menu of quintessential Italian dishes, varieties, and cocktails with Royal Caribbean twists.

New watering holes

  • Pesky Parrot is the new Caribbean tiki bar that sets the vacation tone with its island vibes and fruit-based cocktails made with rum, tequila, and gin, alongside frozen drinks.
  • Cruisers have in-store surprises and delights. Enjoy live music and entertainment day and night, cruisers can vibe to weekend energy. Musicians and DJs playing live music of all genres, from rock ‘n’ roll to Latin hits, hit a high note at five live music venues and parties throughout Utopia.
  • And for jaw-dropping performances, full-scale productions take centre stage across Royal Caribbean’s signature stages. 

Things to explore: on Utopia of the Seas

With over eight hot tubs, five pools and three water slides there is something for everyone.

  • Enjoy pool days designed for every mood, from adults only, chillaxed or fun-packed there are vibes of all kinds across the five pools.
  • Tucked away is the adults-only Solarium pool and the exclusive Suite Sun Deck, both tranquil escapes to chill.
  • If you are dialling up the party are the resort-style and sloping beach-entry pools, three Lime & Coconut bars.
  • The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides and more than a few spots to grab a bite to refuel, including Spare Tire the new poolside food truck for a post-swim snack.
  • The Ultimate Abyss, FlowRider surf simulator, 10-story zip line, and who can forget the longest dry slide at sea is 43 feet longer at 259 feet. This speeds through 10 decks with the new zoom booster rollers, transparent racing windows and surprising twists and turns. What a fun way to slide into weekend mode.
  • When you depart the ship visit CocoCay and turn up the heat for more weekend energy for your short getaway. The private island features more of everything. The lineup spans from the newly opened adults-only oasis, Hideaway Beach, with a private beach, pools and spots for drinks and bites, a live DJ, and more; to 14 jaw-dropping waterslides and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean.
