Regent Seven Seas Prestige ushers in a new world of “casual luxury” at up to $40,000 a night

  • Regent Seven Seas is building a new class of ship.
  • Seven Seas Prestige will have an enormous master suite with an equally big price tag.
  • But what has many talking is the fact that the “World’s Most Luxurious Fleet” has become, well, more relaxed.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises‘ highly anticipated Seven Seas Prestige, the inaugural vessel in a new groundbreaking class, is under construction in Italy, promising a design philosophy that marks a significant departure for the ultra-luxury cruise line.

This isn’t merely an evolution; it’s a revolution in refined elegance, moving decidedly away from the overt, gold-tapped extravagance that once symbolised the Regent view of luxury.

Seven Seas Prestige heralds a fresh, collaborative vision, a design masterpiece created by no fewer than five different design companies.

This diverse creative input has resulted in an aesthetic that is both sophisticated and wonderfully understated, a deliberate pivot from the more pronounced opulence seen on previous vessels, including the popular Explorer-class ships.

The goal, it seems, is to deliver a luxury experience that whispers rather than shouts, befitting Regent’s claim to owning “the world’s most luxurious fleet.” And is more in tune with today’s younger, wealthier, healthier and less in-your-face cruiser.

The classic Regent points of difference remain. The line maintains it is the only truly all-inclusive line, with everything from top beverages and immersive shore excursions to speciality dining at no additional cost.

That makes the Regent offering compelling, particularly in Europe where luxury hotel prices are now ranging up to $3,300 a night.

Lisa Pile, VP Sales and GM, Asia Pacific, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, highlights a key statistic that encapsulates the line’s laser focus on space and guest comfort.

The Prestige class ships, at a formidable 76,550 gross tonnage, are 40% larger than previous vessels. Yet, despite this substantial increase in size, they carry only 10 per cent more passengers, accommodating a total of 822 guests across 12 decks. This remarkable dedication to space is further underscored by an exceptional guest-to-crew ratio of 1.31, with 630 crew on board, ensuring an unparalleled level of personalised service.

At the zenith of this new design ethos stands the breathtaking Skyview Regent Suite, a colossal testament to unparalleled space and comfort at sea. Spanning a whopping 817 square metres โ€“ a footprint larger than many homes โ€“ this two-story duplex residence is a haven of private indulgence.

Guests in this suite will have their own private lift, two lavish bedrooms, 2.5 marble bathrooms, and a massive terrace with a jacuzzi. Beyond the sleeping quarters, the suite boasts a private gym and a dedicated sauna, offering a personal wellness retreat at sea. There is also a dedicated butler and a private driver for limousine shore excursions.

Importantly, the era of pervasive gold plating is over. The Skyview Regent Suite embraces a beautifully stylish and wonderfully understated palette, focusing on exquisite materials and masterful craftsmanship rather than overt displays of wealth. Even the beds, designed for ultimate comfort, are sumptuously made in Italy, a delightful departure from the horsehair mattresses once famously favoured by British royalty.

This newfound elegance comes with an equally elevated price point. To experience the unparalleled grandeur of the Skyview Regent Suite, guests will be paying a nightly fare of approximately $40,000. This represents a significant step up from the already exorbitant, albeit famously art-adorned (including original Picassos), Regent Suites on older ships, signifying a new tier of luxury in the ultra-high-end cruise market.

The Prestige class extends this refined vision across its other top-tier accommodations. Guests seeking expansive yet subtly luxurious spaces can choose from three other magnificent Sky Suites:

  • The Aura Sky Suite, offers a generous 188 square metres of elegantly appointed living space.
  • The Luna Sky Suite, at a spacious 160 square metres, provides a serene retreat with exquisite finishes.
  • The Sola Sky Suite, a substantial 123 square metres, maintains the class’s commitment to spaciousness and refined design.

The Seven Seas Prestige is also set to redefine what Regent Seven Seas Cruises calls “Epicurean Perfection,” moving towards a quieter, more refined aesthetic in its culinary offerings.

Pile tells us fine, so-called dining is losing out to more relaxed eating styles. Good fine is never out of fashion. What is changing is the atmosphere and aesthetic in which it is consumed. It’s loosening its collar a little.

Compass Rose, the ship’s main dining room, remains a central jewel, still famous for its glass chandeliers that continue to impress with their intricate beauty. However, its overall ambience has been elevated to be more upscale, smart, and sharp, reflecting the ship’s contemporary design philosophy. It’s a space where formal dining will meet understated elegance.

Adding to the ship’s diverse culinary landscape is Azure, a brand-new Mediterranean restaurant designed to transport guests to the sun-drenched shores of the Med and North Africa. Here, the focus is on light, vibrant flavours โ€“ think citrus-laced seafood, fragrant herbs, and succulent olives. Azure embodies the spirit of coastal European dining, offering a fresh and sophisticated alternative to the ship’s other gourmet venues.

The Seven Seas Prestige is more than just a new ship; it’s a statement.

Regent Seven Seas is maturing the definition of luxury โ€“ one that prioritises expansive space, impeccable, understated design, highly personalised experiences, and now, a subtly redefined “Epicurean Perfection” over ostentatious displays.
