Princess has unveiled its 2021-22 Australian season with no Majestic Princess

Princess Cruises has unveiled its plans for their 2021-22 Australian season, with the Royal Princess and Coral Princess heading Down Under.

The season also includes plans for Coral Princess’ first roundtrip world cruise from Australia in 2022, as well as the return of Emerald Princess and Sapphire Princess.

The ships will be homeported in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and the arrival of the Royal Princess will have the line’s OceanMedallion technology.

There has been a massive reshuffle within the line, with the Diamond Princess leaving Asia and the Ruby Princess and Majestic Princess heading to Alaska and North America.

The Regal Princess, which was also due to start sailing from Sydney this year, does not appear to be on the schedule for the 2021/22 wave season.

Princess Cruises Senior Vice President Asia Pacific Stuart Allison said, “The first of the cruises being offered are still a year away and two years for the last voyages in the season. We know that many of our guests wish to cruise again when the time is right and it is important that we have options available so that they can plan to resume holidaying at sea. Our new itineraries will give our Australian guests some holiday inspiration for the time when we will all be able to travel again.”

Mr Allison said the five-ship program underlined Princess Cruises’ strong commitment to the Australian market.

“With new ships on offer and a total of 95 departures to choose from, 2021-22 will be one of our strongest seasons Down Under, and reflects demand from our Princess guests and travel agent community who have remained loyal to cruising during this challenging period.”

Both Brisbane and Sydney have homeport seasons in late 2021, with Brisbane hosting the 2000-guest Coral Princess and Sydney hosting the 3560-guest Royal Princess as well as the 3080-guest Emerald Princess.

Mr Allison said the deployments meant guests sailing from Sydney would experience the latest cruise innovation. The 142,229-tonne Royal Princess, and the 113,561-tonne Emerald Princess are both equipped with the cruise line’s OceanMedallion technology.

The 2670-guest Sapphire Princess will be homeported in Melbourne, while the boutique 670-guest Pacific Princess will cruise on two different itineraries from Australia during the season.

Mr Allison said he expected Coral Princess’ world cruise and her 28-night Australian circumnavigation to be popular with holidaymakers.

“Coral Princess is a great mid-sized ship, which carries 2000 guests yet offers a wide range of public spaces and amenities normally only found on much larger ships. So she provides a very affordable way to see Australia and the world in comfort and style.”

Mr Allison said Coral Princess’ planned 107-night world circumnavigation will visit 43 destinations in 27 countries, and feature overnights stays in Dubai, Venice, New York and Lima as well as visits to four stunning new world cruise ports – Sibenik in Croatia, Cornwall (Falmouth) in the UK, Olden in Norway and Isafjordur in Iceland.  Sailing from Sydney on May 18, 2022 and Brisbane on May 20, 2022, the world cruise is priced from $25,799* per person twin share in an interior stateroom, while balcony stateroom fares start from $34,799* per person twin share.

Other highlights of the 2021-22 season include:

  • A Round Australia cruise on Coral Princess, departing from Sydney on March 16, 2022 and Brisbane on March 18, 2022, priced from $5199* per person twin share.
  • New Zealand roundtrip cruises from Sydney on Royal Princess and Emerald Princess from $1999* per person twin share; from Brisbane on Coral Princess from $2399* per person twin share and from Melbourne on Sapphire Princess from $2099* per person twin share.
  • Six one-way New Zealand voyages between Auckland and Sydney on Royal Princess and Emerald Princess from $1899* per person twin share.
  • Five Tasmanian roundtrip cruises from Sydney, three from Melbourne and two from Brisbane from $999* per person twin share.
  • Five Southern Australia Explorer cruises from Melbourne on Sapphire Princess from $1119* per person twin share.
  • A Pacific Princess roundtrip cruise to Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea from Sydney from $4299* per person twin share.
  • Two Papua New Guinea cruises on Coral Princess sailing from Brisbane from $1969* per person twin share.
  • A roundtrip voyage to New Caledonia from Melbourne on Sapphire Princess from $2159* per person twin share.

  1. My family is booked on a cruise for the 2nd January, 2020 to Adelaide. I would like to know if this cruise is going ahead or not. Our payment is due in November but I have paid a deposit. Please let me know.

  2. Yes. We need cruises from Fremantle. Was looking forward to our 26 night cruise from Fremantle on Sea Princess but that won’t be going ahead now probably. Hope they put on another ship to do this. The Coral Princess sounds like a good ship to do this from Fremantle.

  3. There is no mention of the future of “Sun” or “Sea” . It would be nice to find out from Princess what their plans are for these ships. I am thinking that they are being moved on??

  4. I am thinking that Princess have forgotten Fremantle for cruising. Not all of us can afford, want or like to fly over east to pick up a cruise ship. I feel like we are being penalised for something. There are many of us that wish to cruise from our state without having to spend a day to and from with 5 hour flights and possibly extra accommodation prior and maybe after.

  5. Regal Princess is still on sale from Sydney to Fiji on 28th December! On Princess website!

  6. Good question! I am booked on the December 19th cruise, but that is unlikely to happen. They are still selling for Jan 27 2021 but I don’t see that happening either. I think we will most likely have to wait until at least October-November 2021.

  7. I find it very disappointing that the Eastern states have all the cruises,
What about Western Australian Cruises from Fremantle back to Fremantle would be a wonderful opportunity for West Aussies. and I don’t just mean the coral or Kimberly Coast. Cruises from fremantle to Japan, Vietnam and Singapore should be on offer. even cruises that take us to New Zealand, fiji, Guam to mention a few places and back to Fremantle.
Forget komodo Island on the itinerary! I felt that was a very big waste of time an hour long walk in the heat to end up back where you started from before you get to see a Komodo dragon!
We in the west have always been disadvantaged by having to fly east to get the ship then fly home.
Please put some thought into cruises from Fremantle and we don’t need the big ships the smaller ships are more passenger friendly!

  8. We were booked on the Australian circumnavigation on Sea Princess for Feb 2021. Is this still going ahead, we have had no communication from Princess.

  9. The only holidays I have with my mother is our yearly princess cruise. I’m so sad I haven’t seen my mother in 7 months 2 princess cruises cancelled. I have just booked for December 2021. Fingers crossed. Love Princess xx

  10. When can we be sure of whether Sapphire Princess will be sailing on the NZ run?
