In Short:

Discover Antarctica in ultimate comfort with Scenic’s all-inclusive Discovery Yachts, combining expert-led expeditions with once-in-a-lifetime experiences on, above and below the ice.

Sponsored by Scenic Discovery Yachts

It’s the wildest, most isolated place on the planet. Antarctica is a bucket list destination for every cruiser, with breathtaking landscapes, unique wildlife and an unrivalled sense of discovery.

The best way to see it? On an ultra-luxury cruise with Scenic Discovery Yachts. Scenic’s expert Discovery Team is what makes Antarctic exploration possible. Up to 20 specialists in geology, marine biology, glaciology and more will bring Antarctica to life through their knowledge, passion and curiosity. They’ll guide you on life-changing excursions that show you this spectacular wilderness from every angle.

From the water

Hear the crackling of icebergs and feel the spray of seawater as you enjoy all-inclusive excursions by Zodiac, kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Guided by the experts from the Discovery Team, you’ll be completely immersed in this breathtaking natural environment. Without the noise or movement of engines, curious whales have been known to breach right beside paddlers. If you’re feeling brave, you can go one step further and take an exhilarating leap into the freezing waters. The Polar Plunge is an Antarctic rite of passage.

From the land

You’ll always remember the first time you feel the crunch of Antarctic ice beneath your feet. The Discovery Team will take you ashore to see colonies of penguins as they waddle along a rocky beach or for extended hikes across the spectacular landscapes. Kitted out with complimentary specialist polar boots, trekking poles and weather-proof parkas, you’ll feel like one of the true Antarctic explorers.

From above

Antarctica is enormous – around 14 million square kilometres in total. It can be hard to get a true sense of the scale of this great white wilderness from ground level. Take off in an Airbus H130-T2 helicopter to appreciate its true grandeur. With two helicopters on board, there are plenty of opportunities for guests to take to the skies on flightseeing excursions or thrilling remote landings.

At the start of the season, touch down at Snow Hill Island, a tiny outcrop home to more than 4000 breeding pairs of Emperor penguins, or reach the lunar landscapes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys, accessible only by air. Like the sound of this? Book a February 2027 Antarctica voyage before April 30 and you can enjoy a bonus 30-minute helicopter flightseeing experience on selected sailings.

Descend up to 100 metres to discover an unseen world that exists beneath the surface of the ocean. Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Ikon’s custom-built submersibles have a crystal-clear acrylic sphere that will give you a glimpse into the majesty and mysteries of Antarctica. Few people have ever seen Antarctica from this perspective and it’s an expedition you will treasure forever.

The expedition experts

From their launch in 2019, Scenic’s Discovery Yachts have redefined Antarctic cruising.

With their unique blend of all-inclusive, ultra-luxury and true expedition capabilities, a voyage with Scenic is the most remarkable way to experience the White Continent.

On an expedition voyage, comfort means much more than just a comfortable bed. Cutting-edge technology underpins the power, safety and stability required to sail confidently through these icy waters. Both Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II are rated Polar Class 6, which means they have a reinforced hull capable of navigating through ice up to 120 centimetres thick. Customised stabilisers 50 per cent larger than other ships provide greater stability, while forward bow thrusters and an electronic Azipod propulsion system enable safe and comfortable navigation.

Every cruise line that sails in Antarctica also has a responsibility to protect this unique and fragile ecosystem. On Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Ikon, GPS Dynamic Positioning allows the ship to maintain its location without dropping anchor, which could damage sensitive seabeds. The Advanced Wastewater Treatment system and highly effective engines reduce emissions, noise and vibrations.

Onboard luxuries

There’s no need to sacrifice any of your creature comforts on an Antarctic cruise. Scenic’s Discovery Yachts deliver all-inclusive, ultra-luxury cruising even in the planet’s most remote corners. Each night you’ll return to a spacious verandah suite, your personal sanctuary at sea. Take in the view from the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open out onto your private terrace. With personalised butler service for every suite, it’s easy to arrange an indulgent breakfast in bed or evening cocktails to enjoy in your suite.

When you’re hungry, there are up to 10 distinct culinary experiences on board delivering unparalleled excellence at sea. From French fine dining at Lumiére to interactive Asian cuisine at Koko’s and casual

al fresco meals at the Yacht Club, each day is as delicious as it is diverse. All meals and beverages are included in your fare, with no surcharges for specialty dining.

After busy days on shore, treat yourself with a visit to the expansive Senses Spa. Saunas, steam rooms, Vitality pools and salt therapy lounges create the perfect environment for rejuvenation. You can also embrace mindful movement with a class in the bespoke yoga and Pilates studio, the only one of its kind at sea.
