Ed Sheeran loves to cruise.

The 25-year-old British pop star, famous for singles Photograph, The A Team and Thinking Out Loud, was recently onboard Cunard’s luxury ship Queen Mary 2 recording new music.

But Ed didn’t request one of the premier suites onboard – he requested one of the most basic cabins. The entertainer spent a week on the ship with his producer pal Benny Blanco.

“Ed turned up at the dock in New York and asked for a cheap cabin, nothing fussy,” a source told English newspaper The Sun. “While aboard he requested a meeting room so they found him a basic, windowless crew room in the bowels of the ship. He spent the entire week locked away, writing. Ed’s casual dress meant he couldn’t get into any of the fancy dinner areas, not that he cared. He was pretty much confined to two informal areas but was very laid back, happy and chatting to everyone.”

Benny uploaded a photo this week of him and Ed recreating Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s iconicTitanic pose with the caption “Paint me Jack.”

Queen Mary 2 has recently undergone a multimillion dollar refurbishment which included an upgrade to the dining areas, cabins as well as new kennels.
