A new era of Disney Cruise Line is fast approaching, with Disney Adventure departing the Meyer Werft shipyard to embark on her first sea trials. The new ship will be by far Disney’s biggest and will become one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

It marks a new era for Disney as Disney Adventure will begin sailing out of Singapore in December, offering a distinct experience to the other Disney ships, due to the ships large size and focus on Asian culture. It also appears that Disney Adventure sailing out of Singapore was a key factor in Disney’s decision to withdraw sailings from Australia.

The massive new ship will be able to fit around 6000 passengers and 2300 crew members. It’s gross tonnage will clock in at 208,000 gross tonnes, making it the 11th biggest ship in the world by tonnage.

The ship has had an interesting path, being under construction for almost seven years, having initially been planned to become part of the fleet for Dream Cruises. After Dream Cruises went bankrupt, Disney snapped up the ship and designated it to Singapore, which was the perfect fit as the ship was already being built for the Asian market.

The good news for Aussies who are considering hopping over to Singapore is that the prices are a little less expensive than what Disney was charging on Australian shores. The large ship and the fact that the vessel won’t be sailing to any ports means fares won’t be quite as pricey out of Singapore. However, they still won’t exactly be cheap, with cabins starting from about $450 per person per night.

The upcoming 2025/26 season will be Disney’s last out of Australia, at least for the time being, meaning that if you want the chance to sail a Disney Cruise, now is the time to do it.

After Disney leaves our shores, Disney Adventure will already be sailing year-round out of Singapore, offering Aussies another way to sail with Disney without having to go all the way to Europe or the USA.
