The spa aboard Queen Elizabeth, heading our way next year for her first homeport Down Under, has been overhauled and rebranded as Mareel Wellness & Beauty, in a partnership with Canyon Ranch.

This new spa concept is exclusive to Cunard Line and is launching on Queen Elizabeth on December 2018, followed with Queen Victoria later this month and Queen Mary 2 in November 2020.

Mareel, meaning phosphorescence of the ocean, “is taken from the ancient Norse language and speaks to the illuminating light and healing energy of the sea,” said Cunard.

The new brand will offer a holistic approach with an extended spa treatment menu of mineral-rich seawater and marine-based experiences

The spa décor which features hues of blue, green and pale coral, speaks to its name.

New offerings in Mareel on Queen Elizabeth include a couple’s suite for seaweed bathing rituals, a meditation room with acoustic resonance loungers, a redesigned fitness center and studio space, and sound therapy facilities in every treatment room.

The spa was just one of several areas updated during Queen Elizabeth‘s recent dry dock in Brest, France, before she sails her repositioning cruise on January 3, 2019, to Australia.

All Grill Suites and Britannia cabins also got a refresh, together with The Royal Court Theatre and many public areas.

The spa introduces a new signature treatment, “Ocean Discovery”, which features organic marine-based products, from VOYA.

A new range of ocean inspired massage, body and alternative treatments is also rolled out to complement the aqua therapy center, harnessing the healing power of water.

They have also introduced a range of luxury products from Red Flower, Shankara and Environ which have been selected for their socially responsible production techniques with organic ingredients that are sustainably harvested, wild-picked, biodynamic and toxin-free.

Mareel will also feature enhanced wellness experiences across the ship’s daily activity program including stretch and daily meditation videos shown on stateroom TVs, wellness seminars, and outdoor dance and yoga classes.

Cunard’s VP Marketing, Angus Struthers, said: “We are delighted to share news of Mareel Wellness & Beauty, Cunard’s first ever own spa concept. Wellbeing is key to life, and feeling relaxed in mind and body is an important part of any holiday, and we are thrilled to offer such a luxurious spa at sea for our guests.”
