  1. I too find the single supplement deplorable, I love cruising but it’s becoming near impossible.

  2. Another solo here, I have looked at some of the solo cabins offered and in nearly all cases have been inside only which are sooo claustrophobic. Cruise lines that do offer solo discounts are in the higher caliber and most cost much more than paying double for say a balcony cabin on princess etc.
The princess line really needs to offer solos a discount as I definitely would cruise much more often.

  3. I travelled on Pacific Aria to Fiji and Tonga
I had to pay double for the cruise but I had a great time .Everyone was so friendly passengers ,crew and work staff
Would certainly go again .Only wish they would bring the single supplement down

  4. It would be so nice if Princess cruises could drop the prices for Solo passengers. Their would be a lot of us that would really appreciate this.

  5. I used to cruise with my mum but she can no longer do it and I can’t afford the price tag to do it alone unfortunately. Would love to be able to though.

  6. I totally agree with Barry. While a solo is occupying the same space as two in a cabin, they use less toiletries and towels. Also they are only feeding one person. I have been told that the cruise line loses out on the second person buying drinks but many couples don’t buy the drinks package nor spend a lot on drinks. Also I have found that a higher percentage of solo cruises take tours as they don’t have a companion to accompany them at the ports. And except for Celebrity who offers solos double points towards their frequent Cruiser programme ( but each cruise I have had to remind them afterwards as I have only been given points for 1 person but they then do remedy this), Princess and P and O don’t offer double points despite charging double for the cruise.

  7. My husband passed away last year and I now have to travel solo but find the charges for cruising solo far too expensive. Am hoping that Princess will see fit to reduce fares for solo travellers.

  8. So many of us are single and would love to go on a cruise but the single supplement prevents us from doing so.
Wake up cruise lines, you’re missing an opportunity here!

  9. yes Barry, after 5 cruises with princess cruises tallying over 109 days, with my late wife of nearly 60 yrs. find the solo costs outlandish, ( I know it’s cabin space) BUT ?
    REGARDS Alan

  10. Its about time that the single person cruising is catered for as there are many widows and widowers who would love to go cruising as I waould.

  11. my late wife of nearly 60 yrs. have cruised regularly with princess cruises, very happy going as a couple, but now find outlandish costs of solo passenger, puts further cruising out of this sailors reach,
    regards Alan.

  12. I have cruised with Princess as a solo passenger and had to pay double for the room.

That would mean that I am being charged twice the amount for food, fuel, port taxes, room service and many other items. What a rip off.
