Avora Residences has acquired Seven Seas Navigator from Regent Seven Seas Cruises to be relaunched as a residential ship in January 2028.

Seven Seas Navigator will be renamed Avora Lumina with 242 private residences commanding a top price of US$4.2 million (A$6.4 million). However, retirees looking for a more affordable floating home at sea, can opt for a life ownership with starting prices at US$545,000. Those looking for only a five-year ownership program, prices start at US$219,600.

Created by the founder of Villa Vie Residences, Avora Lumina will be an upmarket residential brand with fewer residences and will embark on a three-year continuous circumnavigation of the world.

The inaugural launch will depart Lisbon in January 2028 when she embarks on a three-year global circumnavigation visiting more than 400 destinations across seven continents and 140 countries. Unlike traditional cruise itineraries, Avora Lumina will remain in port for up to five days at a time allowing owners a depth of local, cultural immersion experiences.

“Avora Lumina represents the next evolution – purpose-built for long duration global living, expedition capability and a more refined residential experience,” said Mikael Petterson, founder of Avora Residences who created and operates Villa Vie Residences.

Seven Seas Navigator will undergo a major overhaul and be transformed into a residential ship. Residences can be personalised to suit the owner’s specifications, common areas will be redesigned for long-term living and the ship will have a dedicated business and global connectivity centre designed to support extended voyages.

Sizes of the residences range from 28 to 108 sq m. The residences will be designed as “floating homes rather than cruise cabins,” the company said.

Avora Lumina will focus on offering a wealth of culinary dining options with destination-inspired menus, chef-led tastings, locally-sourced ingredients and a selection of fine wines.

The former Regent ship, originally built in 1999, was set to be chartered by Crescent Seas, another residential ship operator but the plan fell through.

Sales for Avora Lumina are now open. More information can be found here.
