Princess Cruises’ fleet is set for a growth surge, with the Sky Princess recently floated out, Enchanted Princess and the sixth and final Royal-class ship under construction in Italy.
The three Royal-class ships, all equipped with the revolutionary Ocean Medallion high-tech environment for improved service, will be joined by two additional LNG-powered hybrid ships on order for delivery in 2023 and 2025.
The result will be that the world’s largest Premium Class line have a fleet of 22, increasing its capacity by 32 per cent over the next six years.
The huge new fleet size is likely to mean Australian passengers, already enjoying the newest and biggest Princess ship ever, the Majestic Princess, will be spoilt for choice and bigger and better vessels sail Down Under and in Asia.
“The number of people enjoying cruise vacations has increased on average more than one million new cruisers every year over the last decade, an overall increase of more than 68 percent,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia group president.
“As we continue to grow our fleet with five new ships arriving by 2025, we’re proud to not only celebrate these three major construction milestones in the same day but also to continue to innovate our product with cutting-edge technology and elevated guest experiences that will be offered on all of these ships.”
Sky Princess is nearing the final construction and interior outfitting phase before joining the fleet in October 2019.
While Enchanted Princess had her keel laying ceremony and the yet unnamed Royal-class ship had her steel-cutting ceremony, all on the same day.
All three 143,700-ton Royal-class ships carry 3,660 guests and will include the best of the features found on Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess, as well as new offerings that represent an evolution of the current ships’ designs.
Sky Princess is scheduled to launch in the Mediterranean in October 2019, before debuting in North America in December 2019 marked with the traditional naming ceremony before sailing a season of Caribbean cruises roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale.

We have just finished a great cruise on the Golden Princess . The cruise line left from Melbourne this made it so much easier for Victorian travelers this meant so many people boarded already relaxed ready for fun.
Doubt if we will see any in Melbourne….Golden Princess will always be here (I have no problem with that)…I JUST HOPE she will still be clean and nice in March 2020….and the Crew will be cheerful…Bit of an ask I suppose as she sets sail under a P&O Flag about two months later…I think!……………………Fingers Crossed!
We keep waiting, waiting, waiting for Princess Line to send a Cruise Passenger ship to Auckland, New Zealand. Do we have to wait forever?

Fantastic. We’ve had our first cruise aboard Emerald Princess last year & have booked to sail aboard Majestic Princess later this year. We look forward to future cruises in Europe and out of Australian ports too.
