Two giant Carnival cruise liners have collided in Cozumel, Mexico, injuring six people and almost hitting another vessel.
The Carnival Glory and the Carnival Legend suffered impact damage, particularly to the stern of the Glory. But observers say it could have been much worse.
The surprising collision – modern ships have highly sophisticated navigation and warning systems – occurred at the Puerta Maya dock, which is operated by Carnival and a short distance from where some of the world’s largest liners dock.
According to a passenger who spoke to local media and supplied amazing footage of the collision, the Carnival Glory appeared to come close to hitting the moored Oasis of the Seas.
