Viking will debut a new, state-of-the-art ship, Viking Aton to sail the Nile River in Egypt in September 2022.

Viking Aton, currently under construction, will sail the line’s popular 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary exploring Egypt’s ancient cultural treasures and secrets with prices starting at $7295 per person.

As a special launch offer, passengers can save up to $2000 per couple for the 12-day itinerary if bookings are made by 31 March 2021.

The new ship which can accommodate 82 guests in 41 cabins will be identical to Viking’s two sister ships already operating on the Nile, Viking Osiris and Viking Ra.

“Egypt remains a top destination for many of our guests who are inspired to discover the rich history and beauty of the region,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking. “The addition of Viking Aton is a reflection of our continued investment in Egypt.”

Viking Aton will have all outside cabins with verandahs, pool, sun deck and al fresco dining at Aquavit Terrace.

The 12-day itinerary kicks off with a three-night stay in Cairo with excursions to the Great Pyramids and Giza. They will then fly to Luxor to visit the Temples of Luxor and Karnak before boarding the ship for an eight-day on the Nile River.

There will excursions to the tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens and the tomb of Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings. Passengers will also tour a Nubian village and a traditional elementary school.
