Koningsdam is a large ship with a mixture of classic and contemporary charm. With a registered tonnage of 99,500, this cruise ship can provide ample space for 2,650 guests and 1,000 crew member on board. The layout of Koningsdam is all about elegance and functionality. This is a family ship which caters to the needs of families with children onboard. The ship has a Club HAL which segregates the kids into age groups. Moreover, there are plenty of interesting activities and events for adults on board. There are formal and informal evening events which they can participate in at night.

Koningsdam has 1,300 guest accommodations with four distinct colour schemes in order to identify the spa, verandah, suite, ocean-view and inside categories. All staterooms are modern, comfortably equipped and provide enough storage room for your luggage. Even the smallest inside staterooms have a size of 16 square meters. The line uses premium mattresses and bed linen as well as several pillow choices. Beds can always be arranged as doubles or twins. Bath robes are provided in all cabins for the time of the cruise. Fruit baskets can be brought to your cabin and can be refilled as well. Shoe cleaning service is free of charge. There are 748 Ocean view Rooms with private balcony views. There are 691 staterooms with 35 categories with 27 wheelchair accessible rooms. The Pinnacle Suites is the largest accommodation on board.

The main dining area of Koningsdam is the Dining Room. This is a doubledeck room with wine towers, floor-to-ceiling windows and two-deck high sculpture of a structure which is similar to a whales rib cage. There is open seating for breakfast and lunch as well as flexible and set-seating restaurant-style meals during dinner time. Breakfast starts at 7am and includes cereals, breads, blueberry pancakes, yogurt parfaits, corned beef hash and egg dishes. Lunch includes heartier meat and fish mains, light salads, sandwiches and soups.

Koningsdam has Greenhouse Spa & Salon which is a contemporary spa with thermal pools, heated ceramics, beauty salon and spa treatments. A Fitness Centre is onboard and is spacious and equipped with the latest weight and cardio machines. Fitness classes like pilates and yoga are offered. Deck 11 has a sport court and jogging track. The two outdoor pools are accessible of Koningsdam guests. Medi-spa treatments are offered on board like cellulite reduction programs, Botox and acupuncture treatments. The Salon offers full range beauty and hair treatments including teeth whitening services, manicure and pedicure as well as grooming for men.

Koningsdam has a Club HAL program which caters to different age brackets: Kids (ages 3 to 7), Tweens (8-12) and Teens (13 to 17). Private babysitting can be arranged with the front desk for an hourly rate. All children under the age of 12 are required to wear a special band on their ankles and wrists which indicates their lifeboat station. There are different activities for various age groups to keep the children entertained.

This is Holland Americas newest ship and our first experience with this new design. The one thing that was most noticeable when we boarded this ship was the lack of disinfecting stations that were a meticulous mandatory procedure on all other ships!
