Launched in 2016, Mein Schiff 5 is the latest in TUI Cruises’ growing fleet. Like the rest of the fleet, the ship is designed for German-speaking families. It has 12 passenger decks and can accommodate 2,534 passengers. Mein Schiff 5 uses innovative environment-friendly technology, consuming 30 per cent less energy compared with vessels of similar size.
All 1,267 staterooms are spacious with a modern design. There are 127 inside cabins, 963 cabins with a private balcony (80%), 64 junior suites and 16 themed suites. The themed suites on deck 10 are the largest at 54 square metres. All rooms have twin beds that can be converted to a queen bed, television, mini-bar, personal safe, storage space, robes, slippers and a bathroom with a shower.
On the Mein Schiff 5, guests can enjoy dining in a wide array of venues and indulging in diverse cuisines. The Atlantic Classic is the main dining area that seats 530 serves a buffet style breakfast and waiter-served lunch and dinner. The Atlantik Brasserie offers French cuisine specialties and healthy choices. The Atlantik Mediterran serves Mediterranean cuisine. The Hanami is the go to place for sushi and other Japanese favorites. Tag & Nacht Bistro open 24 hours and others which include a complimentary bakery and fine dining. There are a variety of bars spread throughout the ship.
Mein Schiff 5 offers a variety of spa facilities and treatments as well as fitness areas. The Spa & Meer (Spa & Sea) complex has treatment rooms, zen garden, tea lounge, saunas and beauty salon. For fitness enthusiasts, the gym has classes and personal trainers available. There is an open-air combined sports court, a jogging track and three pools including a 25 metre pool and a multi-level indoor pool with a whirlpool.
Mein Schiff 5 has dedicated programs through the kids’ club for children aged three to 15 years. There is also a teens’ lounge with dance floor, game tables, video games, karaoke, cooking classes, teen parties and movies. The playground area has an internet corner and video console games. Families and children alike can enjoy the large outdoor LED movie screen. Babysitting is offered on board at the Nest baby room.
