Launched in 1997, Mein Schiff 2 joined the TUI fleet in 2011. It is a traditional family-friendly ship aimed at German-speaking cruisers. The 77,713 tonne vessel has 10 passenger decks and can accommodate 1,912 passengers and 780 crew.
There are 956 staterooms in 17 different categories on board Mein Schiff 2. Every cabin has a Nespresso coffee machine, slippers, bath robes, mineral rocks for the water pitcher, marble topped vanity unit, television, telephone, shower and twin or queen-size beds.
The Atlantik is the main restaurant on board. It can seat 950 guests and serves up a buffet for all three meals. There are also various other dining options, including Cliff 24 (poolside grill), Bistro La Vela (Italian), Richards (fine dining), Surf ‘n’ Turf Steakhouse and Gosch Sylt (seafood). There is also a variety of bars.
The spa complex has a Finnish sauna, thalassotherapy centre, Oriental steam bath, Samova Tea Lounge and beauty salon. There is also a fitness centre, outdoor sports court for basketball or volleyball, a golf simulator and an area for open-air yoga and Pilates classes.
Younger children on board are entertained with activities organised by staff at the kids’ club, while teenagers have their own chill-out space.
The Hidden Gem of Cruising
– Cruise Passenger
…Mein Schiff 2 is the old (Celebrity) Mercury, renovated 2011. It gives the impression of a fresh and modern ship, but it lacks many of the state of the art features that you meet on new ships. enjoy the ships with relaxed service and atmosphere the best, and I must say that Mein Schiff goes beyond everything in this aspect. Even if the crew usually is doing very well on other cruise lines, trying cruises was like experiencing a new dimension of cruising that was very pleasant indeed
