FAQs

Is everything all-inclusive?

Not exactly. Your cruise fare covers your cabin, meals in the main dining venues, entertainment, and standard amenities. But if youโ€™re after things like specialty dining, drinks, shore excursions, or Wi-Fi, those will cost extra. Holland America does offer the โ€œHave It Allโ€ package, though, which bundles perks like a drinks package, shore excursions, Wi-Fi, and specialty dining.

Is there a dress code onboard?

Yes, but itโ€™s pretty relaxed. During the day, itโ€™s all about casual and comfortable. In the evening, smart casual is the go, so slacks and collared shirts for the guys, and dresses or nice tops for the ladies. On Gala Nights, youโ€™ll see people dressing up a bit more (suits, cocktail dresses, that sort of thing) but itโ€™s not mandatory, so donโ€™t stress if youโ€™re not into it.

Is the cruise suitable for solo travellers?

Absolutely. While Noordam doesnโ€™t have solo cabins, solo travellers are more than welcome. Holland America even offers a Standby Program, which can give you a discount on a cabin if thereโ€™s availability. So if youโ€™re cruising solo, thereโ€™s still a good chance youโ€™ll snag a great deal.

What types of people travel with this ship?

Youโ€™ll mostly find adults over 50 who love a more relaxed cruising vibe. During holiday seasons or on certain itineraries, like Alaska, youโ€™ll see a few families and multi-generational groups too, but overall itโ€™s a quieter, laid-back crowd.
