News bites – what’s going around Australia

Pack your pup

The Langham Sydney has recently paired with Pound Paws for a new, curated Pampered Pets Staycation package. In addition to the usual luxe of a Langham stay, a special gift bag, pet afternoon tea, breakfast in bed for you and your fur-child, and three hours of pet-sitting are all included.

A series of indulgent treatments can also be booked with the Pampered Pets Stylist, from celebrations, in-room photoshoots to paw-dicures and facials for pets. The staycation will set you back from $698 per night with $20 from each booking going straight to Pound Pets to support the re-homing of pets in Australian pounds and rescue centres.

Make yourself at home

In a scheme designed to boost Tasmaniaโ€™s tourism and hospitality industry, Premier Peter Gutwein has announced the Make Yourself at Home incentive for all Tasmanian residents. Travel vouchers go towards any short-term stays from Sunday to Thursday until November and experience vouchers help pay for tourism attractions and tours.

Singles can register for one $100 accommodation voucher and one $50 experience voucher; couples can claim twice the amount but the accommodation vouchers are to be used on different nights. Families can access up to two $150 accommodation vouchers to use on separate nights, as well as a $50 experience voucher for each family member, capped at three children. Residents will pay upfront for the eligible expenses and then claim the voucher value back afterwards.
