Crimea’s tourism authority is working to amend the law to allow cruise passengers to visit the destination visa-free for 72-hours.
In a bid to attract cruise liners back to the destination, Crimean Minister for Resorts and Tourism Yelena Yurchenko said if the amendment is passed international visitors can also stay at Crimean resorts visa-free for 12 days.
The proposed changes in visa requirements came after several cruise lines amended their itineraries to avoid visiting the north coast of the Black Sea due to growing political tensions in the region.
Last month, MSC, Azamara, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas announced they would bypass Odessa in Ukraine, Yalta in Crimea when their ships cruise the Black Sea in April, May and June.
That’s what happens when you deal with idiots. These retards at Crimean Tourism Ministry went along with the Russian visa policies without realizing they don’t have a mechanism to support these policies, and now people are stuck. Well done!
Fools! First, they scared everybody away and now they want everybody back. I think it’s very hard for them to understand it is simplicity that attracts people. Even that tiny Costa Rica has already introduced visa-free travel for Russian tourists, but these rotten Russian bureaucrats still don’t get it. And even with these future amendments, if they are ratified, foreign visitors to Crimea will still be limited to 12 days at resorts and 3 days for cruise passengers. What if I want to stay longer? Three weeks, a month? What if I want to rent an apartment? It seems they don’t want my business. Perhaps, it is time to take my business elsewhere. And the most repulsive fact is that those Chechen suicide bombers. who kill innocent civilians in Russia, can go there visa-free, but peaceful, harmless foreign visitors, who just want to have a good time in Crimea, must subject themselves to those Soviet era visa rules. How sad!
I want to visit Crimea this month , I have friends there and have visited Ukraine before ‘ I am still unsure as to how these new visa rules work .
Some media news outlets say you can visit visa free as a tourist for up to 12 day’s others say you still need a visa . Very confused!!!
It’s mind boggling that Crimean tourism authorities agreed to those moronic Russian visa rules. Unless Crimea is visa free, they can kiss foreign visitors good bye.
If Crimea wants to keep its tourism industry afloat, it should immediately reinstate the Ukrainian visa waiver rules, which guaranteed visa-free travel for EU and US visitors. Otherwise, it can kiss foreign travelers good bye. Those moronic Russian visa rules should not have been adopted at all. The Crimean ministry of tourism should be smarter and realize that the easier travel is the more people come to Crimea.
