The Norwegian Encore, the latest ship to join the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet will be environmentally friendly when it is launched in October 2019.

The ship, which will be part of the Breakaway-class, will be sailing every Sunday from Port Miami and sailing on seven-night itineraries to the Caribbean.

The Norwegian Encore will be equipped with emission control systems and environmentally friendly engines for generating power.

The entire engineering of the ship had reportedly put a main focus on energy efficiency – a construction milestone.

Builders state that priority was given to aspects such as heat recovery, electric motors in the top energy efficiency class, LED lighting, optimised underwater paintwork to reduce resistance, weight-optimised material selection, and others aspects.

Accommodating 4000 guests and weighing in at 169,700 tonnes, Norwegian Encore will be the line’s final ship in the Breakaway Plus Class, and the seventeenth ship in the entire fleet.

The Norwegian Cruise Line are perhaps best known for pioneering a ‘freestyle cruising’ style which offers guests flexibility to enjoy their cruise vacation on their own terms and timings, along with no formal dress codes and various entertainment options.

“Over 50 years ago the Norwegian brand began creating unforgettable holiday moments with the first inter-island cruise in the Caribbean from Miami. We continue building on our legacy of innovation with this brand-new state-of-the-art vessel,” said Andy Stuart, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Norwegian Encore’s sister-ship, Norwegian Bliss, is currently in the final stages of construction at the MEYER WERFT covered building dock. The Cruise Line also has four additional ships on order for delivery beginning in 2022, with an option to introduce two more in 2026 and 2027.
