Once, sailing solo meant a passenger had to pay two fares, making holidays at sea hugely expensive. But thanks to rising demand, more lines are offering solo cabins and single supplement deals.

Considering a cruise on your own? Cruise Passenger has found the best single supplement offers for 2019 to 2021, so you can start planning your dream solo holiday. These are often found on luxury lines like Ponant, Silversea Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Norwegian Cruise Line, a pioneer in solo cruising also offer solo cruiser discounts for regular staterooms in addition to their solo cabins.

Crystal Cruises remains one of the most popular luxury cruise lines for solo travellers, making up to 25 per cent of the line’s guests. The line not only offers a wide range of activities but also have single supplements starting as low as 10 percent. Ponant and Regent Seven Seas has also doubled their selection of itineraries with single supplement offer in the last few months.

American Cruise Lines, the largest cruise line in the US offering a mix of small ship coastal and river cruises, also has single cabins that are without any single supplement on all of their ships.

Solo cruisers can now also find solo cabins on many other lines like: Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge and Costa Cruises.

Lines are even encouraging solo sailors to take the plunge with special activities for solo sailors on board, like pre and post-dinner drinks, afternoon tea. Taking part in culinary programs, workshops and wine tastings also present opportunities to meet new people while on holiday.

See below to which lines are offering single supplement deals:

Norwegian Cruise Line

The line has studio staterooms for solo cruiser but also run solo cruiser discounts where the single supplement is reduced for regular staterooms. The discount is offered on select sailings worldwide. There isn’t a way to seek out the biggest solo cruiser discount online besides clicking into the itineraries you’re interested in to compare solo and double occupancy fares. But they can go up to 100 per cent on some last minute deals.

Solo cruisers can also look out for itineraries offering a 50 per cent off second guest deal as it is equivalent to paying half the single supplement.

Current offers include 17-day ‘Journey to The East from Dubai‘ on the Norwegian Jade departing November 28, 2019 for Singapore. There is up to 59 per cent off the single supplement, with fares from $2,445 for single occupancy.

There is also a 12-day ‘Australia & New Zealand from Sydney‘ on the Norwegian Jewel departing January 23, 2020 for Auckland. There is up to 50 percent off the single supplement, with fares from $3,548 for single occupancy.

Ponant

The luxury French line is waiving the single supplements off a selection of 101 itineraries. They include 12 itineraries departing in 2019 and 46 itineraries departing in 2020. There are also 35 itineraries on offer in 2021, up to September.

A mix of expedition voyages, ocean voyages and new itineraries are on offer. This includes a 2-night short break sailing Ho Chi Minh to Singapore in November 2020 on the Le Laperouse, with fares from $950.

New 7-night itinerary ‘Celtic shores’ sailing Portsmouth to Dublin is also offered. It departs May 2020 on the L’austral and has fares from $3,620.

In 2021, there is a ‘Jewels of the Caribbean’ itinerary which feature multiple open water and scuba diving opportunities, as well as an experienced diving instructor on board for the entire cruise. The eight-night itinerary is a Fort-de-France roundtrip departing in February 2021, with fares from $4,470.

Silversea

Silversea Cruises is also currently featuring single occupancy supplements starting at 10% and going up to 25%. The single supplement will be added to the cruise fare depending on the suite category and ship the itinerary is sailing on. The offer can also be combined with last-minute savings and early booking bonus.

The selection of 42 cruises includes sailings in 2019 and all the way to May 2021. It features 2019 sailings like seven-day ‘Tokyo to Tianjin’ on the Silver Muse departing October 21, with fares from $5,562 for single occupancy after 25 per cent single supplement.

In 2020, itineraries departing Sydney on the Silver Muse for a roundtrip sailing and to Singapore are also available. There are also itineraries exploring Japan, India, London and Alaska included in the offer.

Every Silversea voyage includes a champagne Welcome Reception, to make it easier to meet and mingle with solo travellers, and on select voyages, Gentlemen Hosts are also available as dance partners or dinner companions.

Regent Seven Seas

Go on a solo luxury voyage with Regent Seven Seas while enjoying special offers on their single supplements. Starting at 25 per cent and up to 50 per cent above the advertised per person fare and on 78 itineraries.

Most of the itineraries on offer sail in 2019/20 and up to May 2021. The sailings range from seven to 14-nights, departing Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Rome, Venice, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Athens and London.

The itineraries include 2020 Miami roundtrip sailings on the Seven Seas Splendor that is set to debut February 2020. Fares for December 7, 2020 sailing start from $4,860 for double occupancy and has 50 per cent single supplement for select suite categories.

Seabourn Cruise Line

Seabourn’s intimate small ship cruising is perfect for solo cruises and the line has a selection of 2019 itineraries sailing to all parts of the world with reduced single supplement starting at 25 per cent above current fares.

Sailing in Australia and New Zealand in December 2019 is Seabourn Encore, on a 17-day Bali to Sydney itinerary as well as a 16-day Sydney to Auckland itinerary.

The line also has multiple seven-day itineraries in the Caribbean and two week long itineraries in Northern Europe included in their selection of voyages.

There are also eight itineraries visiting Arabia, India and Africa from October 2019 to May 2020. These sailings are generally longer, starting from 18-days.

Azamara Club Cruises

Azamara Club Cruises is currently offering 25 to 50 per cent single supplement based on double occupancy for five 2019 sailings. The itineraries are 13 to 24-nights and depart in September, November and December 2019, so you’ll need to be able get away on short notice to enjoy this offer!

The sailings include a two week Japan intensive, 17-night Portuguese Discovery, 16-night transatlantic Barcelona to Miami, 13-night Buenos Aires roundtrip South American cruise and 24-night Indian Ocean Adventure from Cape Town to Mumbai.
