Avalon Illumination was launched in 2014 and christened by Australian TV personality Deborah Hutton. The 443-foot river vessel cruises the Main, Danube and Rhine rivers with departures from Amsterdam, Bucharest, Budapest and Prague. It has four decks and carries 164 passengers and 47 crew.

Avalon Illumination has 16 staterooms and 67 suites. Suites have a bigger shower room, a sitting area and wall-to-wall panoramic windows that slide open. Royal Suites are 300 square feet, Panorama Suites are 200 square feet and Deluxe Staterooms are 172 square feet. All rooms have windows, ample storage space, sound-proofing insulation, air-conditioning, private bathroom with shower, satellite television, telephone, radio, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers, ample storage, desk, personal safe, mini-bar and L’Occitane bath products.

The spacious, open-seating dining room serves a full buffet breakfast with sparkling wine and a made-to-order egg station, a lunch buffet with carving and pasta stations and four-course dinners featuring local ingredients. Healthy meal options are available and complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks are offered with dinner and lunch. The Sky Bistro offers al fresco dining with carved meats, fresh salads and soups. The Panorama Bistro serves light lunch and dinner.

The Sky Deck has lounge chairs, shade awnings, a whirlpool and a games area. There is an onboard fitness centre and a hair salon, which also offers manicures. Nightly onboard entertainment includes lectures and movie nights, and cabins have English-speaking TV channels and free movies. There is free Wi-Fi access, a computer area and a well-stocked library. Bicycles and Nordic walking sticks are available for guests to use.
