As expedition cruise continues to rise amongst the cruising landscape, Viking has announced that itโs taken delivery of its second expedition ship, Viking Polaris.
Constructed in the heralded Fincantieri shipyard, Viking Polaris made an immediate beeline for Amsterdam, where it will be christened on September 30 by godmother and celebrated polar explorer Ann Bancroft.ย The vessel will then makes its way to South America for a series of Antarctica itineraries, before settling into the US Great Lakes for the Northern Hemisphere Spring and Summer.Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking said: โThese are phenomenal ships, and we are very pleased with the positive reception from guests during the first season of our new expeditions.โBoth the new expedition ships, Viking Polaris and Viking Octanis can pack in up to 378 guests across 189 rooms, with plenty of viewing areas for the great scenery they will sail through.ย They also notably have received the highest-level of certification for quiet ship propulsion, meaning the ships minimise underwater noise pollution and cause less disturbance to the marine environments they explore.For more information, click here
